OMAT holding a kickstarter to fund his travel

http://boardingarea.com/onemileatati...ticket-really/

I don't know, this comes of as really tacky to me. Asking your readers to pay for your travel and experiences. Knowing how affiliates work, the blog should clear enough money to do this on their own (it has reviewed Aman properties before)...

Anyone else's thoughts?

By the looks of this thread, maybe Ben should have just asked other bloggers (or former bloggers) to buy his ticket! Eh, I wouldn't mind going to dinner and having DP and FTG fight over who is going to pick up the check......

Do you honestly think that giving $25k to the UAE govt is a good use of money? Considering that some of it is your money now?

Very sad. Sadder that many think this is fine.

Not sure why he didn't contact their PR department to try and get it as a sponsored trip. Given his rep for reviewing this type of product I would've thought it'd be an easy sell.

You understand your post will add tons of cash to his run. There is no bad press. Worst case, he gets cash from pageveiws. Thanks again for great post!

LOL. I was interested in the discussion about it, that's why I posted it. To me it comes off as tacky, but to each their own. And I would never donate money to the UAE.

Now if you want to answer the question I asked without your condescending reply you can, or you can ignore my question. But you don't have to be snarky. Or don't good FT manners apply to you?
