Obviously there are plenty of smaller Dos or monthly meet-ups where folk get together & share information & there's no fee. I've attended many over the years. But they're not the holy grail & you can only learn by doing it that way, which some seem to be implying.
For those who are interested in learning more about miles & points & want to do it quickly, attending a structured seminar event can be worthwhile for them. And they get the added benefit of interacting/learning with others & not just the speakers.
Both styles work for different reasons & neither is the only way to do it.
Cheers.

I know there are a few FTUs happening (SAN is sold out & DFW is next after that). There's the Traveler Education Network stuff with lots of dates but few locations filled in. And then there's the F2B sessions in Phoenix in July.

$129 a night, so not super cheap, but cheap for the Phoenician. You can get some SPG properties for $40-60 a night during the dead of summer in PHX

If miles and points are dead, I'm not quite sure how I'm flying to Europe, Australia, NZ, and South America for about $600 out of pocket all in business /first class.
Thanks for trolling!

Yeah, I would make the argument these things are some of the only way to extract true value from miles and points anymore. Having gone to a couple of in person things in the past, and also what has turned up in my PMs box here the "tricks" are not published here on FT for all to see. Its more about who you know. That is why I figured there would good opportunities to learn new things at the event. If not meet other people who are wrapped up in this stuff as I am. Its not like I have very my friends from outside FT and the travel industry that like to talk about increased sign up bonuses on credit cards.
