Note that, at least for French cards, but I think this would apply to any credit card, you cannot make more than three separate charges to a specific credit card on a given day via voyages-sncf (the web site or the app). And once a charge has been declined, you cannot use the card with voyages-sncf for the next 24 hours.
So, if you need to buy several tickets on voyages-sncf.fr, if would be best to combine them in a single credit card charge, if you have to use voyages-sncf (the app or the web site) again the same day to change or upgrade a ticket (at this time, the app does not offer the possibility to combine several tickets into a single credit card charge).
This limitation does not apply to purchases made on a automated kiosk or at an SNCF ticket office.
