My experience in train travel is non-existent as I have always taken (expensive) taxis. So in trying to smarten up a bit with my travels, I decided to take the airport express train from Berlin Zoologischer Garten to Schoenefeld (SXL) for a flight to Budapest. Cost $2.40 Euros compared to $35.00 plus tip with a taxi!!! I will need to bring with me 2 carry on pieces of luggage. Is 2 pieces of carry-on luggage acceptable when traveling trains...What is the limit? Thanks everybody

The limit is as much as you can carry. And European taxi-drivers generally don't get a tip.
Programs: Whatever will get me out of Y and into C or F!

This is operated by a full-size locomotive pulled (or pushed) regional train akin to U.S. commuter trains so it will have full size baggage racks and also a car dedicated to bicycles where large packages and bags would be welcome.
Don't fret, it is a quick trip, but the train station at SXF is a bit of a walk from the terminal. Not too far but do check out these web sites:
Please do be aware that one can take the S-Bahn (more like a Subway or Elevated) from Zoo Station to the same airport station (for the same fare IIRC) but it will take a bit longer. The Berlin transit system is extensive and easy to use even for the non-German speaker.

There's a shuttle bus from the station every 5 minutes or so and also a covered passageway. But it's still a bit of a schlepp. No luggage carts until you get inside the terminal.
And usually you just round up the fare for taxi drivers unless they perform a special service. Eg if it comes to 33 euros, you give them 35.
The Airport Express is much more efficient for getting to Schoenefeld than a taxi, not to mention cheaper.
