The security line on Sunday for Terminal C was long, long, long and slow. I waited at least 30 minutes, maybe more. I had read here to try either A or B, that the lines were shorter, but since I had time I didn't go exploring, this my first time at FRA. When I got near the agents I saw that many, yes many, travelers had clippers, nail files, were therefore getting the full treatment. Shoes off for everyone, even my plastic scuffs. Wands quite intrusive, pushing on parts of my back and front. I was glad that I had read here to allow plenty of time.

My most recent experience with FRA Pier C security was last December...but it hasn't changed in the last 4 years. The Pier C security area is the most confused and inefficient security I have seen anywhere at FRA. After showing your ticket, you enter a very small holding area, where there are theoretically several lines, but since there is so little space, they all run together. Theoretically, there is an express lane for Business and First Class, but this is roundly ignored. Once (about a 1 year ago) I waited in line for 15 minutes, and they then closed the line just 1 person before me. So I had to wait in another line, which then closed 4 people before me. After waiting for a 3rd time, I finally got through after 40 minutes. Pure chaos!

Terminal 1 - A, returning to the US on Monday February 21, security took perhaps ten minutes. Thorough, with a pat down and wanding, but the entrance is pretty much uncontrolled. There are signs for First and Business, nobody pays attention and nobody from security or airport assures it works. The far left entries (once you display your identification and boarding pass) seem to be shorter much of the time.

This was exactly my experience at D a couple of weeks ago (a Sunday at 09:00). There was exactly one person in front of me in line, while the center lines were more crowded.

FRA Security makes me nostalgic for those swift, efficient and customer focused people from the TSA.
Slow and inefficient, and to add insult to injury if you're flying to the UK, you have to go through it all twice!
It is also spectacularly inefficent. Just taken 1 hour to pass through with a BA self print OLCI boarding pass. In normal airports, they scan the barcode to confirm that you are a bona fide traveller. At FRA, it was scarcely looked at.

Worse than ever for peak flight times. Expect an hour even for the expedited J line (though it is usually under 30 minutes). Even the much shorter F line often takes over 10 minutes. At off-peak times it can be 5 minutes, but that is only in the afternoons.
How are FRA security lines running these days? Flying Delta Biz.
It really depends which airline you depart on at FRA (and which Terminal and Pier for sure). As far as I can remember Delta departs in Terminal 2 (Pier D), or am I wrong here. If so, you can expect 30 min or a bit more. Never had to wait an hour in FRA and especially in C.
