Cell Phone Data Service in Europe?

I'm taking a 3 week trip to western Europe (England, France, Space, Italy, Switzerland, Germany) and would LOVE to have cell service during the trip. It's not really the phone that I'm after, it's the data service. I know there's WiFi here and there, but things would be so much simpler, if I could just hop on Google Maps whenever I want to get somewhere and have an in-pocket translator at all times. I have an unlocked Nexus 5 phone. Is there a way to buy a 1 month sim card with "unlimited" data that can be used throughout Europe?

Take a look at the Orange Mundo SIM with the Go Europe option. €1 gets you 100MB of data for that day (with more data available in 100MB/€ increments) for all of the countries you mentioned except Switzerland.

Alternatively, look at switching to T-Mobile service here in the US, which includes unlimited roaming in all of the countries you're visiting.

The link that UAPremExecflyer posted has some pretty comprehensive threads, though.

Thanks. I was pretty happy with the TravelSim option I found on UAPremExecfleyr's link, but Mundo does seem like an even better option!

I'm in the same boat. Great suggestions, all these. Just one question - is there an Orange Mundo page in English? All I found was Spanish...

highlanderfil - Check out this page. As I understand it, you buy the SIM card before you leave from one of those providers (not directly from Orange Spain) and they ship it too you, already activated with 10€ or so on it. When you arrive in Europe, go to http://en.orange.es/ to create an account and associate it to the phone number that is already tied to the SIM. This will automatically charge you an extra 1€ each day you use the card.

There's a mobile-formatted page summarizing the Go Europe option here.

The site I ordered it from activated and enabled the tariff for me before shipping it out, but YMMV.

Also where I ordered mine, although it looks like they raised the price of each card by €5 and lowered the shipping by €3/order since then. Mine arrived in about a week and a half.

They still have one for 10€. It comes loaded with 5€ worth of credit instead of 10€.

I do not recommend SIM cards at all given you'll be traveling to multiple countries. In addition, SIM cards are going to be expensive. Why not bring a MiFi so you don't have to worry about SIMs.

A MiFi rental will be far more expensive for the average user than the Orange SIM card we're discussing.

And what do you suggest to put into that MiFi? They work with SIM cards, too
