Has EY two versions of the A340-600?

I have just noticed that some websites show the J class on the A346 starting with seats 5A and 5K (i.e. window) others show the first row as 5C and 5H (i.e. aisle). On GDS sometimes the seatmap even shows both seats. It looks like if they have two versions, however both seem to have the same number of seats. Could also be that one version has the new seats and the other the old ones. Has anyone details or remembers the config from a flight? What happens if you have reserved e.g. 5A and they send the other version - must be quite a chaos to re-allocate everyone on the day of departure.

I'm not sure on the answer but have noticed this too.

I'm booked with my family on this aircraft, I'm in J, they are in F. I contacted EY on Facebook to pick row 3 for them, they told me that my aircraft only had two rows in F.

I'm in 5H apparently....

I have checked on GDS. Even that A346 version with just aisle seats in the first J row (i.e. 5H is first row) has three rows of F. I have never come across a A346 version with only 2 rows of First class.

If they have told you no nonsense I believe your flight is operated by a A330-300. These have 8F/32J/191Y config ... 2 rows of F, first J seat on the right is 5H. No other EY aircraft has this config.

Rather than start a new thread thought I would post my query here.

Can anyone confirm whether the window seats in Business for the A340-600 are A/K or C/H? I have currently been allocated 8K (EY17 21st Apr)

Seatguru seem to have window seats as C & H on odd numbered rows commencing with row 5
http://www.seatguru.com/airlines/Eti...s_A340-600.php

From the seat map for my particular flight Etihad appear to be showing the window seats as A and K on even numbered rows with the first row in the cabin as row 5 C & H (aisle). However have seen photos on here http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/etiha...ooks-like.html that show 5K as the window seat.

The seat plan on the Etihad website is not at all clear even on max zoom
http://www.etihad.com/Documents/Seat...-version-2.jpg

Finally the EY source does not even show a seat 8K!
http://www.theeysource.com/a346seatmap.html

Have searched but cannot seem to find a definitive answer. I'm very confused

From my last flight I know the answer:

They have indeed two versions of the A340-600. Exact same number of seats - however one version starting with windows (5A/5K) and the other version starting with (5H/J). In this later version they have consequently less of the of favourite window seats.

Therefore your 8K is definitely a window. However they are also sometimes changing the version and re-allocating seats. You can check a day before departure with a test-booking and look at seatmap. Afterwards changes are unlikely.

I had reserved 5A and during online check in was given automatically 6A (due to the change of a/c version). I.e. no problem for me but could have been if I would have had the window in the last row. Don't know what they do then ... probably you end up in some center or aisle seat.

Therefore I recommend to check in as early as possible and if it is messed up call the airport supervisor.

Thanks for the reply Donegal

You refer to one version starting with 5H/J (aisle seats). However I do not see a 5J on any seat maps. Did you mean 5H/C?

As 6A/K seem to be available I am thinking maybe best to get my current 8K changed to one of them and do as you suggest the day before departure

Yes, sorry, I meant to write 5H. And yes, I would also try to get the seat in the front as I think the chances are better to keep a window seat in case of a change of a/c version. Also more silent in the front because less "traffic" as lavatories are in the back and in the front is the First Class divider.

I've recently rebooked my awards due to the 25% rebate offer. They now won't let me re-select 5A because it's a bassinet. Dang. Have to try at the airport.

If you make sure you have no seat selected, which you can do online by going to select-seat and picking nothing, there's a good chance of getting one of the blocked window-seats assigned to you automatically at OLCI

There are actually three versions:

Ver 1: 12F 32J 248Y with old J-class (turquoise) seats has 5AEFK
Ver 2: 12F 32J 248Y with new J-class (brown) seats has 5CEFH
Ver 3: 8F 32J 276Y currently only A6-EHJ (F1 livery) in this config has 5CEFH

I'm sorry I don't. All I know is that A6-EHJ is in the new config with only 8F seats and that A6-EHL has the old turquoise business class seats as I was on it the other day.

The other five are a mystery!

I'm on one in a couple of weeks with 8F, and 5AEFK

See below, I'm wrong.

An update for you:

Ver 1: 12F 32J 248Y: 5AEFK A6-EHL
Ver 2: 12F 32J 248Y: 5CEFH A6-EHE, EHF, EHH,
Ver 3: 8F 32J 276Y: 5CEFH, A6-EHI, EHJ

A6-EHK appears to be in maintenance at the moment, presumably having 4F seats removed.

I really am an idiot. I'm on a 77W outbound, and A346 return, got mixed up.
