in the end my statusmatch was declined, they said AB Topbonus Gold receives the same benefits as Etihad Guest Gold.
...seems that I will not get the 50% EY Guest miles bonus for my upcoming J class flights. I will probably stick then with AB and get only the lousy 130% on my Topbonus Account.

I applied back in February - but the day after they had updated the T&Cs to limit the offer to UAE residents. I still sent in my request (using BA Gold as the target) but heard nothing back.
Imagine my surprise, then, when I logged in to my Etihad Guest account (which I had previously never used) the day after travelling DUB-AUH-SYD on EY to discover that they had upgraded me to Etihad Guest Gold. No email or anything - but the cards were waiting for me on my return.

I requested a status match at the end of January - traded emails with EY and sent in my UA Global Services card and statement and EY replied with no match.
I may try again through this program but frankly was not impressed enough with my first RT to commit to EY.
