A380 initial routes per ch-aviation
Etihad Airways (EY, Abu Dhabi Int'l) will deploy its first A380-800 on flights from Abu Dhabi Int'l to London Heathrow, New York JFK, Sydney Kingford Smith and Melbourne Tullamarine beginning December this year. According to the ch-aviation aircraft database, Etihad is set to receive the following five airframes: cn 4, 166, 170, 176 and 180.

In his speech to the international press, CEO James Hogan said the first of ten A380s on order from Airbus Industrie (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) would be delivered in the fourth quarter of this year.

The airline is also expecting the delivery of its first of forty-nine B787-9s from Boeing (BOE, Chicago O'Hare) before year-end.

Also, pulling up the seat-map on ExpertFlyer verifies the seat arrangement is that of a 9W 77W.

With India being downgraded to CAT II, there is a reasonable chance that EY will use the 9W aircraft for another destination and use an EY aircraft for the 2nd JFK flight, this is assuming that the downgrade specifically affects the 9W aircraft.
So has anyone flown the new AUH-JFK flights yet? On EY's website, they still note that the flight will be on 9W metal. Also, has there been any updates about 9W taking over the flight in May? My family will be on EY103 in June, so I was wondering about any impact if the flight is operated by Jet. In particular regarding the catering.

At least the Jet's 77W has 3-3-3 seating in Y vs 3-4-3 for EY. Of course, my family is 4 travellers and will have to split up.

Interesting - are they adding extra 9W 777's or are they re-timing the 9W 77W flights from AUH-JFK (EY 102/103) to make full use out of both aircraft? I wonder how the scheduling works with only two planes to run two LH/ULH routes at 15/16 hours each?

Routes online has posted the proposed schedule for the flight. I did not expect such and early arrival and departure into SFO. Not much connections at SFO at that hour but I guess ample connections at AUH.

EY183 AUH0215 – 0630. SFO 77W D
EY184 SFO0830 – 1240+1 AUH 77W D

Interestingly, it departs at about the same time the 9W-operated JFK flights do (EY102/103). So they cannot be using the same aircraft if they're going to do daily EY102/103 and EY183/184 departures using the 9W-leased jets... there's only two 9W leased jets and I don't see them being able to fit that into the schedule?

Why can't they just lease another?
