The last two upgrades I did were:

L to X - Select upgrade (bid). Earned extra tier & guest miles ontop of L class

L to I - points. No extra tier or guest miles. Only standard L class tier and points

X gets nothing on NH or KE so I suppose if my plusgrade is successful, I should just credit to EY at 110%.

My parents got an upgrade from C to F on Feb. 12th (MUC-AUH)

Original booking class was Z. The Upgrade booking class was R.
They received the regular distance tier-miles of 2838 and another 2838 tier-miles fare bonus (100% cabin bonus for the booking class R). Total 5676 tier-miles.

Same with the guest-miles. They earned 2838 distance miles and another 2270 fare miles. Total 5108 guest-miles (180%)

Can anyone shed insight into these algorithms? I have the following bids:

1. JFK-AUH: bid range is $1100-$1800. The minimum bid puts me in the deep red on the "strength" meter.

2. AUH-JFK: bid range is $1150-$1600. The minimum bid puts me in light green on the meter.

Both flights are on EY metal (not 9W) and the AUH-JFK leg is roughly 2 hours longer. Are the differences here simply a function of load factor or is there more involved?

The minimum or just a bit more to get ahead of any other minimum bidders, of course

Received Select Upgrade email one week out, with option to bid on all four legs (JFK-AUH-JNB-AUH-JFK).

Today, 5 days out, I received another email with the option to bid on only 3/4 legs (nothing for JFK-AUH). But when I go back to the original email link, it still shows all four legs. What is going on here? JFK-AUH leg is still J7 on EF.

$150 is the minimum and I am quite confident I would have got it for that but I refused the offer since its only a 3hr flight and operated on Jet's 77W which I have just flown 10hrs on last week.
