Just flew F EY MUC_AUH_SYD
usually fly EK F A380
in the air I like the EY suites better- they seem wider and more spacious because of the lack of dressing table and gain of seat and nice pillow
bed seems longer and no way of hitting the underside of the table.
the food seems much better on EY
the dom is much nicer on EK.
no caviar on either of the EY flights
caviar on only some EK
shower on A380 is heaven.
AUH F lounge smaller and more intimate than DXB F
AUH F lounge attendants are very nice, helpful
lack of EY lounge in many cities means a crappy F lounge experience
EK lounges are in far more cities-usually all of similar good standard.
lack of premium boarding in the 2 EY cities.
lack of precision boarding and disembarking in MUC & AUH.( inAUH everyone got off the flight walked up the gangway and the doors were sealed shut.)
it was 40 degrees and over 200 people had to wait at least 15 mins for the doors to be opened.
on the embarkation the scanners were not working so there was a huge wait while they fumbled around in peoples bags dragging multitudes of bottles of water off passengers.

surely there was another gate available with scanners that worked!
it seems to me they are very let down by their boarding proceedures.

EY call centres seem far more efficient and friendly than the almost curt EK call centres( including Melbourne) where one feels that it is a priviledge to talk with them.
hope this helps.

Oh and the main comparasin is the MUCH better EY program

full miles for family members up to 10 family inc any bonuses.
paultry 20% of family members-what a joke!
SYD_europe J one way 100kEY 150k OW F
same J class 123k on EK around 200k OW F EK and almost no availability
more availabilty on J and F EY
hardly any availability unless paying premium pts for EK

I choose to fly EY these days because I can earn miles on AAadvantage while flying EY in the GCC, unlike EK where you don't earn miles on any of the 3 major alliances.

I flew EY for the first time BNE-SIN Economy, July 25
Had heard all the rave so was looking forward to it, but disappointed as the plane wasn't very new, small dim screens & limited IFE compared to EK.

Crew were OK but EK still beat the rest, even though they have lost their cutting edge in the last couple of years.... Oh & my seat was still dirty, crumbs & muck all over it!

Shame really cause I'm starting to wane on EK since their points system has been downgraded.

Was hoping Etihad might be a bit fresher.
