777-300 First

Hi all,

I am travelling on 4th April from Athens to Dubai in First.

Seems like on that date there is an aircraft change from the usual 777-300 ER to a 777-300

Now i have travelled with that before and know it is fitted with the seats with the 2nd best F class seats with mini bar. I am unsure though if the 777-300 is equipped with the old seats or same as the ER version. Also is ICE fitted on this plane?

My next flight will be with an a330 so i know not to expect much there.

Thanks

It depends on whether the 777-300 has been upgraded. They are currently upgrading all the 777-300's, so you may get lucky. I think they've done around 40% so far.

The older seats in F are very comfortable, with a huge pitch. However, they are not lie-flat seats.

Cheers,
Rick

You will not know which type of 773 it is (refurbished or old) until 3 days before the flight when Emirates will specifically allocate the registration of the aircraft to operate the service.

so then i will get the same F seats as the 777-300ER and ICE??

Cause eventhough seating diagram is 2 row F class in the entertainment section it mentions TV&Radio, not ice.

As far as I know, all planes originally are sold as if they were refurbished planes because if they didn't EK might oversell the F cabin (18 vs 12 seats.) As Emirates777 said, you will only find out 3 days before.

If the EK website says TV and Radio, I'd take that as saying there is a good chance it is going to be an old 777-300. There is no plane that was Tv and Radio but with the new 77W style seats in F.

Cheers,

With Emirates, esp. with regards to aircraft/seating on a given route, the volatility in last minute aircraft changes is probably higher than that seen in the financial stock markets these days.

I just flew back into LHR on EK005 tonight. The aircraft was supposed to be an old config 773 - i had it confirmed 12hrs in advance and it should have been A6-EMV. 18 seats all sold out in F.

When i looked at flight ops details at 1330 at the airport, there was a change. In fact not only my flight changed but loads of others -- some got switched from 3-class to 2-class. What was strange was that there were no extraordinary events such as weather, to cause such a big upset to the system. Furthermore, around 6 or 7 flights boarded from remote stands -- which was dumbfounding given how many free gates there were esp during the quieter afternoon. To put things into perspective even EK003 boarded from a remote stand which must have been a first !

I got lucky - our aircraft got switched to A6-EMS - a refurbished plane. Some unfortunate pax got downgraded from F to J etc. We did encounter a one hour delay as the inbound from MLE/CMB had to be turned around.

Hopefuly things should improve on the 773 front by September when all the aircraft will have been refurbed.

I had a 90 minute delay heading from DXB to BLR. The captain said it was due to some ATC systems being moved. This had led to downtime, and thus subsequently led to the delays. Note sure if this could have anything to do with what you experienced.

Rick

Yes. You will have ICE. If it's a 777-200, then is will be the Skycruiser lie flat seats. If it's 777-200LR, then I think it will have suites.

Doesn't anyone read the stickies?

Cheers,
Rick

I do read the stickys, the problem is that on the EK website when trying to make a new booking for this flight it has as aircraft the 777-300 and when i am viewing my booking at manage my booking it mentions a 777-200/200ER.
I called up EK and said the aircraft shows as a 777-200/200ER. So basically i cannot get an answer on what to expect.

Well, if it's showing 777-200/200ER then it will be the Skycruiser full flat seats in a 2-2-2 configuration.

The key here is ER as opposed to LR - only the latter has the suites and AFAIK is only operating to IAH right now.
