Food was great on all flights, except the one breakfast was main meal - they really haven't improved it at all - poor in comparison to all the others.

EK are apparently so short staffed in economy that from November, first crew might be (will be) required to work in business and similarly business crew in economy for an entire roster.
Email to crew describes the situation as EK having "restricted resources among our Economy crew". Guess the hiring freeze was not such a good idea after all...

She mentioned there's a bit of a hiring freeze right now, so the rosters are pretty tight.
She was pretty funny, probably over-shared her EK drinking stories, but then again she was Irish.

On a flight to JED this week, a gregarious Irish cabin crew was managing the bar. She was actually a Economy crew, but Business was short staffed and Economy wasn't very full so she was stationed at the bar. Since it's a dry flight, there's not much to do other than serve date champagne and nuts... so no much special training required!

Just witnessed an incident onboard J DXB-GLA. A young man had received an op up and then bragged quite loudly about it to his new neighbour in 6D. The neighbour immediately called the cabin manager and demanded that he receive an op up as he had paid full fare in J. He was told that he could move upon the exchange of miles or cash :-D
