Economy Saver Miles Reduction?
I was pricing up a trip earlier and thought the miles on offer for Y Saver Fares seemed unusual.
UK to Far East (in my case GLA-BKK) I'm sure used to be 2,100 miles (4,200 for a round trip) but now it's coming up as 1,800 (3,600 rt). I don't have a recent booking to compare it to so wasn't 100% sure it had changed.
Checked a current booking, again from GLA but this time to AKL, and a similar picture. My booking 8,576 miles round trip but 7,350 miles for a dummy booking made now.
No change on Y Flex/Flex Plus or Business Class earning rates (yet).
Have Y Saver Fares had their miles reduced or just a glitch?

Wow indeed, have been doing some dummy bookings recently and haven't actually noticed until now. So on the same type of Southeast Asia-W. Europe journey as ft101, it seems like a wider Saver-Flex miles earning difference, and narrower Flex-Flex+ difference:
Saver 1800 (prev. 2100)
Flex 4500 (prev. 4200)
Flex+ 6000 (unchanged)
Saver 1800 (prev. 2100)
Flex 4500 (prev. 4200)
Flex+ 6000 (unchanged)

I have just put in several dummy bookings of my usual routes. There is no reduction on miles accrued in saver. SYD-GLA has been 12400 tier miles (return) and 24,800 skywards in Y saver for the past 3 years, and it still is. (Note, I'm working on a Gold bonus basis for skywards miles)
There is also no difference with Y Flex, Y Flex + or Business flex tickets. I have all of these fare buckets booked for this year and the dummy booking matches what I was already earning.

It may be route/zone dependant then.
I'm trying to think back to when these fare types/earning levels were introduced and think the different levels were a percentage of the Base Level or Economy Flex Plus Miles. If that's the case, if one changes they should all change so perhaps it's not.

You can verify any changes by using the skywards miles calculator and selecting either silver, gold or platinum. Skywards members still earn 25%, 50% and 75% bonus skywards miles, however tier miles for certain routes have now been reduced significantly for saver and special fares... even flex have been reduced slightly and flex+ remains unchanged in some cases.
https://www.emirates.com/account/uk/...alculator.aspx
For example, MAN-DXB in Y based on Skywards Gold:
Tier Miles - Special = 450 / Saver = 900 / Flex = 2250 / Flex+ = 3000
Skywards Miles - Special = 1950 / Saver = 2400 / Flex = 3750 / Flex+ = 4500
This would suggest old tier miles for the same route may have been:
Tier Miles - Special = 1300 / Saver = 1600 / Flex = 2500 / Flex+ = 3000
Changes - Soecial = -850 / Saver = -700 / Flex = -250 / Flex+ = No Change

Ignore my last post... it appears as though special/saver tier miles have been reduced significantly and flex has increased slightly.
Based on recent and future bookings:
MAN-CRK Saver Y (One Way) - Gold
Actual Skywards Miles Earned = 5100
New Booking Skywards Earned = 4800
Actual Tier Miles Earned = 2100
New Booking Tier Miles = 1800
MAN-SEZ Flex Y (One Way) - Gold
Actual Tier Miles Earned = 3500
New Booking Tier Miles = 3750

I asked EK about this and they confirmed that Special and Saver miles had been reduced "to promote Flex fares".
They went on to say it was across all routes which does not reflect what sydtogla reported above, and they could not confirm/did not know whether it was temporary or permanent.
