Too bad I have all my travel booked with QR now. Their fares ex DUR are simply unbeatable.
I saw a fare for R17,600 (all in) in J for CPT-ATH on QR. That is about $1,250 for a return J ticket.
Simply unbeatable!

Try EgyptAir. Flying next week on a $700 return BOM-JNB. But it's EgyptAir, so I fully expect to get my money's worth

Yup, but I've been cutting back on in-flight boozing over the last year so...
More importantly I've been to Egypt, but not Cairo/pyramids, and the routing has a day-long stopover and supposedly MS provides free visa/hotel so... plus it's the same cost as what I was going to pay Y return on EK, and I've already renewed Gold so why not try something new.
Side note: I've flown MS before with friends and we took a 1L bottle of vodka on the flight and crew permitted us to drink it and served us mixers. A few weeks after the 2013 coup no less.

Well I did feel you were horribly short-changed on your birthday aceboy, but I have to question whether your switch of allegiance from EK to QR (assuming that's still the plan, as referenced in your first post of the thread.....??) is the ideal solution.
It might be that you should consider instead offering your valuable custom to a certain Abu Dhabi-based carrier.
During the infamous 'Cakegate' episode surrounding one of their players some time ago, the Manchester City sponsors were keen to present a rather impressive (and full-sized) cake, inflight, along with a suitable rendition of Happy Birthday by CC members ........
Despite what others may think, I'd say you deserve nothing less, aceboy.

It seems that there are other people out there who make more nonsense complaints than I do:

Yes, people moaning about with their reward tickets is annoying, but asking for a birthday party and an entire cake on board seems a bit absurd for a grown man, don't you think?
