My first ever Emirates flight was MAN-DXB on a 2 class A330 back in 2001. I couldn't believe how good it was (in Y) compared to what I'd been used to (generally BA and charters).

Food was fantastic, great legroom in a 2-4-2 config, and IFE that was mind boggling at the time.

My colleagues had gone over in J (I was a contractor), and they had "huge" seats. Along with the pleasure of meeting Chris Eubank (who tried to borrow money off them).

Here's a video EK released today with fleet stats, now punting the fact they're a pure A380 and B777 fleet:

They're saying 85 A380, though, not 86.

A380 deliveries will have a delay due to the RR engine issues. It's highly doubtful that EK will take any before the problems are rectified. If that is the case they will only take delivery this month of 3 A380s and 1 777-300ER. They still need to maintain their upcoming schedule and have built in flexibility with parking the 777-300s at DWC on ready standby if needed. for the next few months. The operational issues are a moving target. EK has the advantage of being able to implement change quickly though.

The first few B777-300ERs with the new J-class seats starting with A6-EPV, will have the higher MTOW for ULR flights.

A6-EPV is the first ULR B77W delivered after A6-EGI back in 2011!!

Interesting is that she has Y306 stead of Y304 as on all others ULR B77W.

By the way, A380 A6-EUL will be delivered today.....another ULR frame.

Perhaps an extra row before they go from 3-4-3 to 2-4-2 at the back?
