The timing is bad on 501 and the bar is all about the timing*.

The 3am flight to HGK is not a great one at the bar either.

The return that leaves at 7pm from HKG is however excellent.

*Not including MAN - any time of the day is 5 pub o clock flying from MAN.

Is there a bit of a bias in that observation given the fact you are always in it on MAN flights?

I get on it on every flight.

On a recent trip back from CMB (773) I set up a tasting booth in the galley.

Had some cheese set up and went through some lovely reds.

Watch out in case some EK marketing suit comes along and uses you as promotional material for the "773 in-flight bar"

No secret in particular.
Probably,

I find EK bars to offer opportunities to meet people from complete different circles, which is the most interesting part. (Can't really do that queuing 777 lavs )

And my own personal tip for "interacting" : the topic of hand lotion is best avoided as a conversation-opener.

(unless you want to keep the bar all to yourself of course ......... )

Not impossible on the 777, but it's a bit more challenging

I wouldn't say the circles are completely different - everyone can afford/has an employer who can afford to pay for them in J, or at the least Y with status! But for sure, some interesting people out there!

I don't know, I could probably indulge someone in a conversation about hand lotion whilst nursing my drink

However, I was on a flight once where a guy tried to flirt with the crew by saying he was in Oil & Gas. A lot. Suffice to say, there was little exciting interaction on that side of the bar The purser came to save the day by letting me tend the bar...!

Last month, it was the other way round.
The male purser was flirting with the FA, and I probably saved her day by staying around ...
I felt a little bit pity for her, as other FA couldn't but work hard during the busy lunch time passing by her with .. strange looks.
He wasn't very shy about this, and even came later have a long (interesting) chat with me ...
Anyway, this paused when a senior FA came to him saying that a passenger was demanding all blinds to be pulled down so that her child can sleep ...

Make eye contact with others and have a smile - always seems to work.
