It's not even through security, just intercede with the boarding pass check person before immigration. Immigration and security don't care how you got to their desk/station.

Which? EK J or F? Other airlines?
I'm going to guess EK J and in this case your best best is the quiet area of the concourse A lounge. not sleeping areas but reclining water slide type chairs (I always feel like I'll slip off) set a bit off from the general hustle and bustle with blankest.

Not sure if this pic is of them but they're something like it if not. And not private rooms but partitioned off (definitely in B concourse. Not sure in A).

Didn't strike me as being a restful sort of area but then some people could sleep quite easily on a bed of nails .

Any other option other than the Dubai transit hotel? I found that expensive for 6 hours transit.

Snooze cube type setup between B and C I believe. But if you don't need a visa why not just head into the city if you find a cheaper hotel, though with transport it might add up, unless you take the metro. The Four Points By Sheraton Bur Dubai has good rates and is quite nice, stayed there this past weekend, and is nearish to the airport. Probably 35 AED each way for a cab (very rough guesstimate)

Snooze Cube is next to Gate C22 in Concourse C, and also now in Concourse D, according to their website.

plans to upgrade lounge at JFK?
Had not been through this lounge in some time but within span of a few weeks experienced the EK JFK lounge and brand new EY JFK lounge. The EY lounge is beautiful while the EK lounge looks in need of a refresh, any plans for this?

I doubt it. Maybe it looks a bit dated in comparison to the EY lounge which might newer, but as a lounge it seems fairly OK. I haven't heard of any plans for a refurbishment, but with 4 A380s departing daily, they might be looking to expand. I'll check next month when I am there.
