Question Flex Plus - Fare Bucket ?

Hi All,

As you are all probably aware of emirates new ticketing classes, we now have the Flex Plus fare.

Since I travel alot for business and make my booking through our corporate travel agent, we only get to buy the ticket based on the fare buckets, only after the ticket is issued, we find out if its flex/flex+/saver

So with the old system, I always knew that anything from W and above is usually flex.

Now, while that remains true for flex....I dont know where the Flex+ starts !

Anyone knows what the new Fare buckets are ?

Thanks,

Hi.

There is not a 'general' rule anymore (like W and higher is Flex etc), it always depends on the routing. Your travel agent should check the farebase before the issue the ticket, example below:

I.e: U....PAE1 = Saver (always 4th from right).
So they have to check the 4th letter from the right which should be F in your case (Economy mostly R, E, Y / Business J for sure, on some routings also C)

its going to be Flex+ , right ?

Cheers !

Normally. You see it in the fare base i.e TARXPAE1 / P = saver

9/10 cases: x/v = special, t/l/q = saver, u/b/m/w = flex, r/e/y = flex plus

Has this changed when the new fare types were introduced?

I always understood it to be the first letter in the fare code.

My recollection is that before the recent changes, the first character was the fare bucket (not merely the booking class) which now seems to be 4th from the right.

I've got tickets going back several years where this appears to be the case.

If a fare bucket can belong to more than one booking class now, as mentioned in post #2 above, then I can see a requirement for two fields to contain what was held in one field before.

My question was, did that come about at the same time as the recent changes?

Is there a list of all the possible alternatives?

we take the one above for an example:
RXRZFAE1
R / booking class
X / midweek or weekend fare (so X or W)
R and Z / have to pass not too familiar with DXB fares
F / Flex plus in this case
AE / country of departure
1 / published fare (i.e 4 for web fares etc)

First letter is for any airline the booking class, after that there is a difference depends on the airline

Edit: R / could be for return not 100% sure

So for your questions:
As the 4th letter is the indicator this is pretty much it as there, as you say, different fare buckets in the same booking class (i.e O and A). If I recall the fares ex DXB are had changed 'long' ago however all other fares were amended for the fare branding (few months before).
