MLE - CMB F and J differences

Hey guys. I'm trying to decide if I should redeem my miles for F or J between Male and Colombo. Since it's such a short flight, the flat bed in F won't really make a difference to me. Has anyone flown this route recently? What are the main differences between F and J for the meal service? Thanks in advance.

Per Emirates' web site, on this leg, all classes receive the same cold platter; the only difference is that economy, business, and first all get different desserts.

You should stick to y for a one hour flight!

I'm y for anything less than 3 hours, simply not worth the points.

It does seem crazy to go for F on such a short flight. But hey, if you have the miles and they are going to expiry, why the heck not.

I don't remember what catering was on my last J flight MLE-CMB but the one thing to note is if you go MLE-CMB you won't get any champagne before takeoff compared to CMB-MLE.

If the miles are about to expire, then use 'em up.

BUT .... if they've still got some life left, spending them on such a short sector strikes me as a bit wacky.

I have flown this segment many times and the flight is so cheap from a $$ perspective that i never even thought about using miles. But, looking at the miles required, it isn't all that much. To me almost a wash between using miles an revenue.

As far as the difference between F and J. EK uses the non-suite F on this route, so there isn't a massive difference between F and J.

Y award: 8,750 miles, $21 scam charges, $25 taxes.
J award: 13,750 miles, $95 scam charges, $25 taxes.
F award: 18,750 miles, $150 scam charges, $25 taxes.

Y revenue: $131 + $25 taxes.
J revenue: $277 + $25 taxes.
F revenue: $392 + $25 taxes.

+1. unless it is a part of a long haul to follow ! otherwise for under 4 hrs Y is good enough at discounted tickets.

Thanks! In your experience, has EK 652 MLE CMB been on time?

I've only done this once in F and once in Y. Y is not recommended if a full flight!

I'd probably stick to J, there is not much time for anything other than a few drinks.

By the way, old F DXB-MLE on EK652 is a very pleasant trolley style lunch.

I think he just wasn't sure what Y is.

F = First
J or C = Business
W or T = Premium Economy
Y = Economy

And, in some cases like Singapore Airlines:

R = Suites

*Note that there far more booking classes, but on FlyerTalk those are the ones you'll hear members use the most.
