I'm no expert either, but I think that is part of the equation too. If HNL is closed, where else can you divert to?

ABV changes from A343 to 772
The Cape Town flight 770 has been 77W since 1 Sept 2014, making both flights to Cape Town daily 77W services! So much better now than 343/345

I wonder if EK could get approval for DXB-NRT/NGO/KIX-HNL.

On the other hand traffic to Middle East and Africa from HNL is tiny and the flight would just not be worth it unless EK really wants a piece of Japan-Hawaii.
Agree that it doesn't seem like it should be at the top of EK's list, and northeast Asia to Hawaii is pretty well served by others.

Now if they could get something like DXB-JFK/ORD/IAH/DFW-HNL with cabotage rights, that would be pretty cool. They could build a lot of brand equity in the U.S. Unlikely as that would be.

P.S. I guess this should be in the "wish list" thread and not this one. Sorry.

If they have fifth freedom traffic rights. You have to deplane at JFK. They won't let you stay on the plane. You have to cleared Customs & Immigrations. You go back to security again. You have to re-clear at TSA checkpoint and get it back in the entire concourse. You will allowed to get back onboard the entire aircraft.

Just checked the timetable (October til March) on EK's homepage and I saw that:
BEY just twice daily (no more 955/956)
RUH just twice daily (no more 815/816 & 3813/3814 - maybe just seasonal?)
JED 801/802 instead of daily B77W just 3 weekly but A380
ALG down from daily to 5 weekly
BGW down from daily to 4/5 weekly
KRT down from daily to 4 weekly
KBL now daily A343 (instead A345)
WAW still daily A332 (no B772 or B77W as announced some time ago)
CMB 654/655 up from 3 weekly to 6 weekly
BOM, DEL, HYD, MAA, COK, BLR will be served with B77W, B773, B772 or B77L - no more A332 or A343

Maybe I missed something before (announced planned routes never realized) or the EK timetable is not complete. Please correct me if something is wrong or missing!

The 777s replacing the A332 for BOM is really good. Though the A380 will only service 501/500 until 29-Mar

EK 500/501 will be op. by A380 on daily basis (until 29th March). Next summer EK 506/507 & EK 508/509 are scheduled with daily A332. Time will tell.

I think they cancelled this service back in 2010 but intend to re-introduce in December 2012. So this increase never happened

Here's the source regarding the 4th daily Riad service (right now just twice daily)

Any idea if the switchover to 77W will occur sooner? The flight history looks interesting as it has been a majority of 77W-operated flights in August (17/31) and so far in September (16/22).

I'm booked in F on Nov 28 and I'm hoping that I get a 77W day.
