The EK timings into DFW really suck. Makes for some long transit when going to India.

Possible Reinstatement of 2nd daily LAX Winter 2014

Hello, I have heard rumors from various EK staff about possible reinstatement of the EK217/218 flight to LAX using B777 in addition to the current daily A380 service EK215/216. Anybody else heard of this, or does it sound like "wishful thinking" from those in the company? Also possible reinstatement of the 2nd Houston flight have been postulated. Both rumors to be effective after the summer runway works are completed. Would love the chance to arrive in the morning at LAX again!

In regard to the second daily LAX, it's probably just wishful thinking for now. The whole purpose for the two daily LAXs and IAHs initially were to boost frequency for the FAA audit. Unless an A380 upguage announcement is made in the next several weeks, it's more likely that the second daily IAH would be reinstated. IAH has been a great cargo market for EK, so much so, that they've announced plans for a freighter flight to IAH and ATL.

EK A380 to VIE; one-off:

"DUBAI, U.A.E., 9th April 2014: Emirates, a global connector of people and places, will operate a one-off A380 service to Vienna next month, celebrating 10 years of commitment to Austria. The Emirates’ double decker, which carries over 500 passengers, will make history when it becomes the first ever scheduled A380 service to Vienna International Airport.

On 26th May, the A380 service will replace EK 125 and EK 8126 departing Dubai at 1715hrs and arriving in Vienna at 2110hrs. The flight leaves Vienna at 0020hrs and arrives in Dubai at 0800hrs the next day."

According to the Emirates SkyCargo website, the CKY flight is cancelled because: "the safety of our passengers and crew is of the highest priority and will not be compromised." ... Is this alluding to the outbreak of the Ebola virus in Guinea? Or is this just a generic response?

I presume that is referring to the outbreak, as they only say that when they suspend flights because the destination is dangerous.

I wonder if MXP-JFK could be moved to Manchester?

Emirates have not been shy in saying they have all the permissions they need to start USA flights from MAN, MAN is already a strong destination for Emirates, has the required infrastructure such as lounges and A380 capability thanks to the EK17/18 flight and at this moment in time, the NYC market from MAN is woefully underserved, as MAN have said NYC is one of their must underserved destinations, and MAN has gone from 2xB757 from UA, 2xB767 from Delta and BA and 3 weekly B777 from PIA to just 2xB757 from UA/AA and 3 weekly B777 from PIA.

And going the other way, with PIA pulling out of LBA in May and Air Blue pulling MAN in February, Im sure they could do with some more seats for ISB alone.

That's some run of bad luck for routes started in the last year :-(
Court ban here, epidemic (CKY) threat of war (KBP) and probably a misstep (CRK).

Unfortunately not the first time an airlines has been given approval by authorities only for it to be later removed/overturned. I'm sure it won't be the last either.

A380 daily to KWI

No announcement yet, but already loaded onto the EK website.
Starting July 16, the 857/858 rotation switches to A380 daily. From Oct. 26 the flight leaving DXB departs an hour earlier.

For those of us not familiar with EK's flight numbers which flights is this referring to?

Dubai-Kuwait-Dubai. Perhaps the shortest ever regularly-scheduled commercial service of an A380?
