At BOM, they have a list of folks who were upgraded and keep on cross checking it with the pax BP as they board. If the list is long, then they miss you (BPs are not scanned but just collected and then scanned later on at a separate station) then you have to wait inside the a/c for a seat assignment until all pax have boarded, which is a pain. Fortunately, the list was only 4 pax long and she gave me a new seat assignment at the gate itself!

Did it actually give you a seat in J when you did OLCI? A couple of times (including last), when I did OLCI, I noticed that in MMB it would show the onward from DXB as "No Seat" but when I checked in, it would still print my original seat in Y in the OLCI receipt.

When I did OLCI 24 hours prior to departure, seat still showed as 18A in Y. Printed my BP about 3 hours prior to getting to the airport (6 hrs before actual flight), seat showed as J (7J) in both the seat map and on the BP itself. I could've selected a different seat in J if I wanted but only the middle seats were left by then.

BP pinged when scanned at the boarding gate and was manually amended to 2K by the agent. Flight went out 100% full.

Careers at EK are 10 a penny, and Zol knows that with his intimate connections there.

I wouldn't be surprised if my details hadn't been leaked to influential people at EK to get them to treat me badly.

Who can convince me otherwise?

Put your money where you mouth is and refuse to fly Emirates if you feel you are so badly treated.

Oh, wait, you already did that many times before... or at least you said you did.

Hi All,

Based on this information I wondering if to book a flex flight or saver flight as it doesn't seem to make any difference on receiving an 'op-up'. See details below: -

I am Gold and will never fly enough to achieve platinum.
My partner will make it to Silver whether I book a saver or flex ticket (she only requires 2,500 tier miles).

The return PVG-LHR saver is £865 each. 7k miles plus 6k tier miles (without tier bonuses)
The return flex is £1031. 13k miles plus 12k tier miles (without tier bonuses)

1k miles is roughly £25, so the additional miles I get equates to pretty much the same price if I just bought them through skywards.

So the question is, am I more likely to be upgraded with a flex fare? If so I'm happy to pay a little extra, if not I may as well book the saver ticket and buy the miles if I need to.

P.S. It's a Christmas flight so I will not want/need to change the ticket, so this flex benefit is no good to me.

Thanks all!
