I fly BA F on Jan 18th as One World Emerald.

Is my only option the run down BA lounge? I'm there from 5p to 2a!

If visa is not an issue I would be tempted to go into town for a look round and a meal - 9 hours is a long time in any airport (and an eternity in the current BA lounge)......

Once passing immigration at terminal 1, and going down the escalators to reach the tunnel to concourse D this is the new renovated look. We can expect this to be the look of the whole new tunnel renovations in the future once concourse D opens up.

Dubai International welcomed 5.9 million passengers in June according to the monthly traffic report issued by operator Dubai Airports today.

Passenger traffic during June increased 16.7 per cent to 5,914,671, compared to 5,067,726 during the same month in 2014. The year to date traffic surged 10.4 per cent to reach 38,299,291, compared to 34,676,090 during the first half of 2014. The increase in traffic during June can be attributed to the runway refurbishment project between May and July last year during which the airport was reduced to a single runway operation. The surge in traffic was countered by a drop in number of passengers during the holy month of Ramadan which fell in June this year.

When is this hotel expected - there is so little info on DWC airport and my Qatar flight is a lot cheaper to fly into there than into DBX

The Hilton website suggests early 2019. Lots of hotels available within a 10-12 mile taxi ride.

Flydubai to begin flights from Dubai’s new airport

Flydubai to begin flights from Dubai’s new airport

Dubai, Reuters
Tuesday, 4 August 2015

Flydubai will begin operations at Dubai World Central (DWC) from Oct. 25, the budget airline said on Tuesday, bolstering Dubai’s efforts to have carriers switch from the emirate’s busy main airport.

Flydubai said it would serve destinations during the winter schedule from DWC’s Al Maktoum International Airport.

It will become just the fifth passenger airline to operate from DWC, with many reluctant to move operations from Dubai International.

FlyDubai will do this with two/three permanent airframes at DWC, organically adding more flights/destination, and airframes in the future. Once the terminal expansion is done, and the metro line is up, and running we should see them shifting the majority of they're enterprise to DWC.
