As far as i know EK352/353 is not going to be reinstated for the 2010/2011 operating plan. I had written a few months back that one of the plans was to bring the A380 back to EK201/202 in 1Q subject to loads. Now from what i am hearing some A380 deliveries are being shifted out and thus we may or may not see the A380 in 1H 2010 or it could be later in 2010 -- the aircraft could be deployed elsewhere. It will come down to demand across the network.

As far as new routes go there are quite a few in the pipeline (i got an update last week). The issue is available aircraft capacity. One route that seems to be a front runner is Tokyo (NRT). I don't think we will see many new North America routes, instead an increase in aircraft size -- like the SFO upgrade to B77W. By 2015 all the current Americas routes should switch to the lighter A380.

India is a bit more complicated. The current bilateral is getting close to being maxed out. We will have to wait for the next round of bilateral talks and see the outcome -- the Indian carriers seem to be pushing back on granting Emirates more capacity. Furthermore, the issue of accomodating FlyDubai has to be considered. Recall their plans to fly to Coimbatore (CJB), Lucknow (LKO) and Chandigarh (IXC) have been stalled due to traffic rights. I believe Mangalore (IXE) and Jaipur (JAI) have been earmarked for FlyDubai. Pune (PNQ) could be served by either EK or FZ (Fly Dubai).

Those are international codes of the aircrafts applied to all airlines, not only Emirates.

77L = Boeing 777-200LR (long range)
77W = Boeing 777-300ER (extended range)
200 - 4x2 cabin doors
300 - 5x2 cabin doors

Emirates configuration (approx)
77L = F 8, J 42, Y 216
77W = F 8/12, J 42, Y 310

bvms: 'deliveries shifted out" means emirates agreed with Airbus to delay deliveries. where is the full report on how much a380's are delayed and for how long?

BVMS: that I've read about and heard about. air India, and others 'cryin' in the wind'

Furthermore, the issue of accomodating FlyDubai has to be considered. Recall their plans to fly to Coimbatore (CJB), Lucknow (LKO) and Chandigarh (IXC) have been stalled due to traffic rights.

BVMS: I read that too.

BVMS: I hope ek comes to PNQ soon. better then FZ (I haven't flown FZ and frankly don't plan to since EK is better full service carrier!

thanks for the info on diff plane capacities. good business strategy for ek to move 'em around as they see the need to increase or decrease capacities accordingly.

Question

http://rateflight.com/international_...ates-airlines/

this is a great advert for Emirates airlines. Any Emirates flyer would love to read it. I'm sure.

yet still it doesn't tell us what we need to know. How many a380's are defered? for how long? and what are the @ dates of delivery for them? and what routes have they all been planned for?

EK777, you seem to be well connected. Can I suggest that an EK flight from NZ/Australia through DPS to SIN and DXB would be a real winner with high demand on all sectors. SQ has has had, essentially, a monoply on the SIN-DPS route for too long and only now is this being broken by AirAsia nd Jetstar. However, there are no other quality carriers on this route, which allows SQ to charge USD 1K in J for a 2 hour flight! QR will switch from DPS-KUL-DOH to DPS-SIN-DOH commencing January 2010, which seems like a smart move. But its inconvenient timing on DPS-SIN. EK could clean up on all sectors as tourism in Bali continues to boom, despite the global recession.

last year (2008) when I was in jakarta I approached the Emirates offices there asking if ek would consider doing dxb-sin-cgk-dps-sin-dxb. (seeing that both indonesian airports (both cgk and dps) are nearby international ones that can both handle wide body's)
if ek was planning to extend the cgk flight onwards to dps to collect more pax)

the ek rep said " since 1997 EK's had permission to operate flights to dps, yet perhaps they are werehousing the permissions" (likely an Indonesian-uae bilateral A.S.A. to use later on when aircraft become available, and loads/yields warrant it.). it's common to hold the bilaterals until later on for use. I'm still hoping for the fiji A.S.A. to come announced by the end of the 3rd Q if that comes off well, that'll be the real indicator of direction ek will go in future years.

Since Ek my favourite airline is not serving this route, I'm forced to use Airasia for this route. I'm also hoping more then nz/australian pax for that route. I'm hoping for akl-nan-lax or sfo- or yvr-dxb (or via toronto) then ek will have their own NA RTW.

of course since the Canadians nor the USA will not likely grant 5 freedom rights in the near future, the other plan could be akl-nan-gru-dxb or akl-nan-gig-dxb or akl-nan-bog-dxb.

In another thread, someone suggested dxb-sin-hgk-lax-dxb would be the easiest 5th freedom rights to get for EK to have their own RTW. I applaud these different scenarios.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that their might be a fully fledged ek RTW. sometime within a few more years of hard bargaining on richard vaughans list.

Thanks for giving us this information, Emirates 777. I was booked on a flight to AMD in January that will now not happen. When I checked my "confirmed" reservation on line, I saw that my MAN to DXB flight was unchanged but the DXB to AMD leg was re-scheduled, giving me a 23 hour "connection" in Dubai. I do not want to wait this long for a 2½ flight so I have moved the whole thing forward by one day.

If I had not seen your post, I would not have known about the change since nobody from Emirates has been in touch. The same thing happened earlier this year when flights to New Zealand were rescheduled, affecting me seriously. Why do they not contact people directly and promptly when they make changes like this? It is hardly good practice to let your customers hear bad news just because they happen to follow a site like this. As far as I can tell, they would have been quite happy to let me find out at check-in. I am though, grateful to you for providing the heads up.

emirates 777,
from ek gold 146113310

right now there is:
1) ek/ua RTW (I've just got Bonny to craft it)
2) ek /TN RTW (air tahiti nui + ek)
3) ek + world journey RTW (loose unaffiliated 17 airlines)
4) will there now be (EK + (virgin group) aka vs-va-vb RTW)?
5) will then there be; online booking of any of these RTW ticket combinations on emirates.com?

http://www.travelagentcentral.com/ai...nnounced-17420

aside from the obvious that this new va.ek codeshare means that trans tasman pax can go on virgin australia to lax from sydney.

what's really tempting to ask is this:

will there be a RTW for ek that uses that vA codeshare to take Ek pax RTW say.

syd-dxb-lax-(syd using VA)?

what if they used Virgin america to go say, syd-dxb-lhr (or gatwick) jfk (on virgin altlantic) then surface accross USA going lax-syd (on virgin australia) then syd-bne-mel-ade-mel (on Virgin blue) mel-sin-dxb? this would mean RTW with ek and VB Va Virgin Altantic combo will that be announced?

will there be a RTW for ek that uses that vA codeshare to take Ek pax RTW say.

mru-dxb-syd-dxb-lax-(syd using VA)?

what if they used Virgin america to go say, mru-dxb-lhr (or gatwick) jfk (on virgin altlantic) then surface across USA going whatever (co or ua or even SWA if it was surface) lax-syd (on virgin australia) then syd-bne-mel-ade-mel (on Virgin blue 'visit australia pass' ) mel-sin-dxb-mru .

the combinations from various cities of departure or along the way emirates serves would make the list a lot more, like including ayd-akl or etc.

if so this would be fabulous! this would mean RTW with ek and VB Va Virgin Altantic combo will that be announced by ek? emirates 777 can you get with your contacts in ek commercial dept in Dubai to ask all these questions?

what about the fiji A.S.A. does that mean that Richard Vaughan's trying for pacific open skies to clear the way for extending ek's routes from akl-to fiji then onwards to usa or canada then around the world?

or possibility of cgk-dps being added to dxb-cgk flights? both airports are fit for wide bodies?

do you wanna read some of the amazing things airport insiders 'won't tell you'

http://forums.jetphotos.net/showthread.php?t=48484

read that!! all Frequent fliers!

another query gang!!! (help me out here)

I will be transiting in Sydney in a few months time from ua 839 to ek 412.
ua 839 lax-syd arrives in sydney @6:10 and ek 412 departs syd-akl @7:50.

that's 1 hour 40 minutes. Since I'm not desireous of the hassle of first going through aussie customs (1:40 min is quite tight to connect to ek 412) the question arises: does Internaitonal pax coming in transit from usa to NZ or vis versa (as new codeshare ek with VA is all about), have to 1st go through customs before boarding the connecting international flight or not? if indeed so (God only knows why aussie customs would do that, but then again aussie customs fellas are boiund to do many strange things),

1) a one day gap from arrival on ua 839 to ek 412 would be in order (if customs must be gone thru first)

2) if *no customs are needed* (due to international transit) then yes, I see that the 1 hour 40 minutes is perfectly ok for going to ek lounge to wait for the flight syd-akl.

anybody have an idea what's and answer here?

To give an answer anyone would need to know the flight number and the date/s of travel. it will probably be a Boeing 777-300ER from BHX to DXB and back and then either an Airbus A380 or Airbus A340-500 for the longer legs. There is more than one flight each day.

You can check on the Emirates website on Manage My Booking or just look at the timetables for the days of travel. You'll also be able to look at the type of seat and the other services on the flight. Enjoy your trip.
