i've also heard that etihad is vying for NRT since etihad is the national carrier of uae (not EK). and that EK was going for HND. Emirates777, can you shed some light on this?
tia!
No, Emirates will operate to NRT. Both Emirates and Etihad are expected to start Tokyo in April 2010. The current bilateral only permits 5x weekly each but Emirates are hopeful it can be increased so the route can be opened with a Daily service.

Can I suggest a Belfast? If you buy a J class DXB-LHR then the add on in J with BD to BHD is another 400 pounds! There are many folk that transit in LHR to go onwards with BA/SQ/TG/AI etc, maybe EK could look at starting a few a week to NI.

It seems Emirates is going to consolidate its presence in the current markets it serves rather than add any new major long haul destination this year and next How are the business class loads to LAX/SFO/JFK/YYZ and IAH performing in this time of recession?
I was in Dubai on Thursday and I heard that the A380 will battle in JHB with a FULL load. The talk has been on fying the A380 (just over the world cup) to DUR as the new airport will be open and was designed with the A380 in mind. Any other info on this Emirates 777?
I also spoke to someone while I was in Germany who has something to do with the new Durban airport. Apparently this is phase 1 and when the second phase is built the airport will be the biggest in Africa. Well done Durban, with all that freight at the port I can see the need for a good aviation hub with long haul destinations. JHB had better be carefull, I think DUR will start with a drip, drip on airlines and then if the pax services work, the attrition a JHB could well be a problem.
Narita Airport to alter taxiway to relieve congestion
The depressed traffic figures come as the operator of Narita Airport, prepares to open the long-awaited extension to its second runway. On 22-Oct-2009, the B runway will extend to 2,500 m, compared to the current 2,180 m – facilitating widebody operations. The longer runway, which will be operational five months ahead of schedule, will provide for an increase in the annual number of slots at Narita from 200,000 at present to 220,000 from the Northern Summer schedule, effective from the end of Mar-2010.
Meanwhile, the airport is preparing work to alter an L-shaped section of a taxiway that has led to taxiing delays and restricted the B runway’s capacity to 14 takeoffs and landings per hour, less than half of the main A runway’s 32.
Narita International Airport Corp has acquired approximately 85 sqm of land from local farmers that had opposed the sale for almost 40 years, following a Jan-2008 Supreme Court ruling.
If you think 85 sqm is a sick joke for a Supreme Court ruling, you should take a look at the following pic:
Makes you wonder when they are finally going to acquire the rest of the land and fully finish the complete runway.
Seriously, NRT is so fccked up, I hate that airport !!! (especially the endless taxiing around the trees, the chickens, and the rest of those gddodamn farms)

will ek put the a380 back on dxb-jfk-dxb ek 201 in 2010? also when will a380 be put on dxb-sin-dxb 2010? and which route? will a380 be on dxb-mel-dxb 2010? or dxb-sin-mel-sin-dxb 2010? emirates 777?
according to a.net's website dxb/sfo capacity increases from a daily B 77L to a daily B 77W from Oct 26 and dxb/syd capacity on ek 414/415 increases from a daily A 345 to a daily B 77L.
EK225/226 DXB-SFO-DXB changes from B77L to B77W (with Suites in F).
EK203/204 DXB-JFK-DXB changes from B77W to B77L.
Effective 1 December 2009:
EK203/204 DXB-JFK-DXB changes from B77L to B77W.
No A380 back to JFK yet? How is possibilities EK will increase the capacity passengers on 77W aircraft out DXB-SFO nonstop. It will have more payload cargo restrictions. I'm sure EK will be very successful on 77W aircraft for DXB-SFO-DXB. I think the loads are doing quite very well.
