EK636/637 DXB-PEW-DXB will be upgraded to B777-200 (2-class) aircraft from A330-200 (2-class) aircraft effective 4 August 2009.
Frequency remains 2x weekly.
Separately i'm hearing that the A380 could be back on EK201/202 DXB-JFK-DXB sometime in 1Q 2010 depending on how well loads recover on the route. Nothing finalised yet.

any news on if emirates will start operating to spain?? it is one of the most profitable destinations to have. As the spanish economy seems to be doing well.
Due to heavy booking for the summer peak EK asked and obtained the authorization from ENAC (Italian Civil Aviation Authority) to add 5 extra bilateral flights in August (on every sunday) to Rome.
Flights are now bookable through EK.com :
EK 3097 DXB FCO 10.20 14.40 - 77W
EK 3098 FCO DXB 16.55 00.35(+1) - 77W

Really? When I was in Manchester a few weeks ago there was a long report on the BBC about how the Spanish economy was among the worst in Europe. The focus of the story was on the numerous British expats now jobless in Spain as a result that Spain was so much harder hit than the rest of Europe by the economic collapse. Unemployment at 20% these days doesn't sound like so robust economy to me.
PS. I'd love to see EK start Spanish services as much as anybody, but alas I'm very curious where any good economic news is coming from Spain?
