What is going on with MAD? There is a flight this month to MAD via MUC and a direct one MAD - DXB, but nothing has been announced... Is this going to be a regular service and since when?
A380 confirmed on EK372/373 DXB-BKK-DXB on a daily basis effective beginning of June 2009.

This makes me a happy man.
I fly on an monthly basis between BKK and DXB Business Class and i think i will change to the A380 flight instead of the not very good 777 seating.
Nice to see that EK37-EK38 has been upgraded to the 77W ... I was on board it yesterday after missing my connecetion in DUbai for EK39 and was unsure i would be getting on the 77W or the A332 ... Just a shame that when i got on it found out the aircraft was a 2 class and not one of the 3 class aircraft that being used also at the moment on this flight...
Never mind tho ... good loads in J on both my outbounds from BHX full in and out on J ... so they must be making some money.
Reason i missed my connection to Dubai was somthing to do with a problem at Manila and our EK332 ( 0020 dep ) i think was diverted elsewhere whilst problem was sorted out ... nice 3hr 30min delay ...
Got home in the end and hats off to how Emirates sorted the whole situation out ... well done and we certianly be using them again.

I fly this route or MAN and what day where you flying. I have noticed a distinct drop in J travel. Yeasterday flew in and J had one other passenger and Y was a ghost town!!
It would not surprise me if BHX was cut to 3 or 5 a week.
My outbound was on a friday dinner time and my return should have been on Monday luchtime flight but connection was missed so was put on the monday evening flight.

I was on EK39 yesterday plane was full or very nearly full in both classes, also on EK38 10th April again full. Flying through BHX again beginning of June.
BHX seems to be doing okay load wise everytime I fly through there.
Best Regards

I read on this forum some time ago, about new Emirates flights to Angola. How about Botswana? Any plans in the coming years? Gaborone or Maun service? I don't think the Maun airport will be ready for a couple of years to accomodate a flight of this magnitude - but, how about Gabs?

The plan to increase IKA freqs to 3x daily in May has now been shelved. Larger aircraft (ie. 777s) will continue to be phased in progressively however the route will remain at 19x weekly.
CAI will receive some extra flights during June/July/August on some specific dates, to cater for the summer rush. All decisions pending clearance from the Egyptian aviation authorities.
hey emirates 777 any chance for information on new routes for late 2009 /2010 for ek for ord, dps, pnq, jai, mia, ord, yvr? what about a380 for dxb-mel, what about round the world on ek via akl as jump off to go accross the pacific? what about a stopover in nan, or somewhere like tahiti onwards to sfo-lax or the like?

Hi BVMS
Nothing imminent. In the current environment, the focus is on increasing frequencies than adding new routes. New routes, tend to have high start up costs (e.g. recruitment of ground staff, opening of local office) as well as of course higher promotions which means break even time frame gets pushed out further. The last thing you want to do is increase losses. Exceptions to the rule are those routes that are license to print money from the start e.g. recent launch of Luanda. In that context the one route that we could see started if necessary clearance/safety issues sorted out would be something like Baghdad. Am surprised Durban managed to stick -- likely more to do with the fact that South Africa loads have held up better than other areas of the network.
On A380s, i believe a number of options are under consideration. During the winter we could see the A380 deployed on one or more of the following routes: JNB, MEL, BNE, LHR (EK003/004).
An A380 RTW was on the list of eventual routes when the big A380 order was placed -- but these plans went on the back burner a while ago. And with aero political clearance unlikely i think these RTW is unlikely to happen in the near future. FWIW RTW A380 service was planned DXB-SYD-LAX-LHR-DXB and another service in the opposite direction DXB-LHR-LAX-SYD-DXB. Plan was to run this on a daily basis.
On a separate note, the Emirates Lounge in Mumbai is now open.
Has EK changed the equipment for the EK108/9 (DXB-LCA-MLA v.v) route? I've only been seeing the A330s coming in the past few days while at work and incidentally an A343 operated the Sunday flight, the first time an EK A340 coming to Malta.
Would be sad since it's a huge downgrade from the T7's, cabin wise.
DXB-LHR-LAX-SYD-DXB. Plan was to run this on a daily basis.
Interesting routing structure considering getting 5th freedom rights on the Sydney-Los Angeles-Sydney sector would be a tough task considering how rigid the Australian Government has been to SQ's request. Emirates should consider Dubai-Hong Kong-Los Angeles-London-Dubai instead for its RTW flight as obtaining 5th freedom rights on the HKG/LAX/HKG sector would surely be easier compared to SYD-LAX-SYD. In addition, only Cathay Pacific flies this route where as on SYD-LAX one has to compete with V Australia, Delta, Qantas and United.
