I might be wrong, but I can't believe this is correct. Certainly, EK would kill to get these rights, but if they got them they would send the biggest aircraft they could find to LAD, not the smallest.

I would assume this is due to capacity control. Emirates using (in general for example) 250-seater 332 3 times a week is nearly equivalent to AF 2 weekly 77W.
Also, to answer your question on a.net since I got banned permanently, EK791/792 is indeed loaded in the GDS, but it's not loaded on the timetable function but rather the airlines' direct access (Sabre) or inventory display (Amadeus). General availability is not showing it as well

More musical chairs on the 2009/10 operating plan. The following aircraft changes take place effective 1 June 2009.
EK037/038 DXB-BHX-DXB upgraded from A330-200 (2-class) to B777-300ER (3-class)
EK050/051 DXB-MUC-DXB downgraded from A340-300 (3-class) to A330-200 (3-class)
EK721/722 DXB-NBO-DXB downgraded from A330-200 (3-class) to A330-200 (2-class)
EK781/782 DXB-LOS-DXB downgraded from B777-300ER (3-class) to A340-300 (3-class)
Effectively this is an aircraft swap to better align capacity with loads. Basically the B77W from LOS will be moved to BHX, and the A332 (2-class) from BHX will be moved NBO, and NBO's A332 (3-class) will be moved to MUC, and MUC's A343 (3-class) will be moved to LOS.
Note, the 3-class B77W to BHX will be sold as 2-class, with the First class SkyCruiser seats sold as J in addition to the normal J class cabin. Anyone travelling BHX in J should bag those first two rows as you get flat bed seats.

Thanks for the heads up on the BHX change of aircraft. Just upgraded a flight in July. The 3 class 777 is still showing on EK37 out of Dubai. I did not pre book a seat as row 6 is the first showing. 1 and 2 are greyed out. I will call EK tomorrow instead and request front row!
Any idea how long this is planned for?

These changes apply on a go forward basis - so through to the end of the current fiscal year i.e. end of March 2010. But effectively when schedules roll over to the next year these will remain until Emirates applies further changes.
I would expect full J class paying passengers to only be given those First class seats on the Birmingham flights rather than have discounted business class paying passengers in C and I class inventory grabbing those better seats
Any indication of why Etihad announced Abuja to start in March 3 months ago and now there is no mention of it. Do Emirates have the right to fly to Abuja?

I would be very surprised if this happened!! I regulalry fly with EK in F or J but occasionaly we go on a family holiday booked either deep discounted or reward fare for Y. But myself and wife have ALLWAYS been put in F if available evne on Y fare so there must be some in J who could have had this upgrade but where not!!
I saw an old 2002 posting for dxb-ord, I was wondering emirates 777, if ek was planning to expand to mia, ord, den, pnq, jai in 2010?

You'd think so, but that's not what seems to happen. In my experience, 3-class aircraft are quite often substituted onto the J/Y DXB-KHI-DXB route. F seats merely appear as normally selectable J seats (albeit in 2-2-2 config) for all passengers on the OLCI system.
I always try to put myself down in row 1 or 2 on this route - and have been in FC seats on 3 of my last 4 flights. Quite nice to settle into a minibar-equipped F seat instead of the crummy old 332/773 J cabin one expects.
Note, the 3-class B77W to BHX will be sold as 2-class, with the First class SkyCruiser seats sold as J in addition to the normal J class cabin. Anyone travelling BHX in J should bag those first two rows as you get flat bed seats.

Can you confirm that these will only be available on OLCI?
The Emirates phone agent told me that these were "blocked out", as they are on the website.
Thanks
