Is the 380's introduction to Rome still confirmed for Jan '10?
Yes, its already confirmed on operated A380 aircraft for DXB-FCO beginning in Jan. 2010. If EK doesn't change the equipment due to aircraft availability.

As has been mentioned in the other thread, effective 1 June 2009, the EK241/242 DXB-YYZ-DXB will upgrade to an A380, 3x weekly.
The aircraft will be sourced from EK201/202 which will downgrade on a daily basis from A380 to B777-300ER effective 1 June.
Since JFK requires 2 aircraft to operate a daily service, the 2nd aircraft will be deployed on flights to Bangkok. Not sure whether its EK384/385 or EK372/373 -- will get additional info and report back.

i've got a booking April 21 to fly dxb-jfk on a380. I still hope I will be on that plane. any idea? on the one hand the news is that a380 dxb-jfk will be stopped april 09 and other reports is June 09. very confusing. what date will it be? I called emirates offices in Joberg and according to their system a380 is listed as the plane as of June 3rd jfk-dxb. Emirates777 does this mean that the ek system has not been yet updated to reflect the new dowgrade to 777-300er post june 1, 09 or is it simply that ek management haven't made up their minds or what?

emirates777 what's the real story?
BVMS,
The last A380 operated flight DXB-JFK-DXB is on May 30. Dont know where the April info comes from.
With drastic decreases in the PEK and PVD markets, the replacement of ADD/EBB and ACC/ABJ services with B777, where are those A343 going to be redeployed?
So far from your updates there does not seem to be any additional A343 flying, only A343 reductions. Are they going to be parked or sold?
Emirates announced a while back a direct DXB ALG service, without mention of when it would be introduced.
I know a lot of people traveling between the two that are stuck with LH/AF/AZ transit options with 16-20 hrs trips 3/4 times a month!
ALG being one of the most profitable routes in the world for airlines...
anyone knows when EK will be finally introducing a direct flight?

At the moment these aircraft have not been redeployed elsewhere in the network. Under the revised schedule there is spare capacity to the order of one frame daily, and two frames, 3 days a week. The A343 are on operating lease from Boeing until 2013 and were recently refurbished (soft refurb to be specific) hence i'd be surprised if they are withdrawn from service. I think one of two outcomes is possible: 1) replace some A330s with A343 -- there is a ongoing rumour that some A332s may be retired or 2) use them for new routes, additional frequencies on existing routes, which are currently unannounced.
On the subject of ALG -- yes this is certainly in the pipeline and is under consideration for 2009/10 along with another couple of African destinations. Nothing confirmed yet.

So it seems ADD/EBB is switching aircraft with DAR.
Effective 1 May 2009, EK725/726 DXB-DAR-DXB will upgrade from A330-200 to A340-300.
The planned upgrade to B777-300ER will now not happen (darn!) and this 77W aircraft will now be used on EK723/724 DXB-ADD-EBB-ADD-DXB, instead, effective 1 August.

Nothing new yet. Maurice Flanagan (Emirates Group Executive Vice Chairman) did say a few weeks ago Emirates would start flights to both destinations soon however it is not clear what timeframe he actually meant ! I don't think the flights will be routed onward to Central/South America.

Some flights to Asia are being re-timed on their return journeys to avoid concurrent arrivals, and thus improve connectivity. Frequency to CGK increased to Double Daily.
