Any word on Shk Ahmed's progress with the Canadian Gov't regarding future frequency to YYZ or new Canadian city (YYC,YVR) destinations? I have heard that the Canadians regard EK and EY as one carrier from the UAE and hence the restrictions for EK's future growth there. ie. the UAE already has daily flt's in the eye's of the Gov't there.

Most expansion plans for Africa /S. Africa regards new destinations for 2009.. correct? Existing routes elsewhere recieving increased frequency.

Recent rumours spreading about EK's dissatisfaction with the A380 and possible numbers reduction on deliveries from original 58 ordered (heard SIA as well). Also, 6 A330's being considered for removal from service. To be replaced by??? Anything heard from others on this?

Apologies if I have missed previous posts answering these questions.

Regards,
No progress has been made with the Canadian govt. on increased access into Canada.

Yes, Africa is an extremely profitable market for Emirates and will be an area of growth in 2009, 2010 and beyond. There will be at least another 10 destinations added in Africa over the next seven years including ALG, DKR, ABV, LUN, TNR, LAD and some others -- of course all subject to govt approval and safety/security issues. But for 2009/10 it will be mostly increased frequencies and larger aircraft to existing destinations. Not many new destinations planned - only a handful.

Emirates is set for bilateral talks with the Phillipine govt in a couple of weeks and this should result in greater access. Expect MNL to move to a minimum double-daily and over time it will probably go to a triple daily. I suspect we could see an additional port of call in Phillipines - either Cebu or Clark but this is not confirmed.

Haven't heard anything regarding reducing A380 orders, but yes it is being considered to remove 6x A330s (from some of the early deliveries) from service. Various rumours circulating from financing problems through to dated interiors. In the short-term the 330s will be replaced as the 77Ws come through, but their LT replacement will initially be the A330-300s and eventually the A350.

Yes MNL deserves a double daily B 77W operation served by EK as the demand is definitely there. I doubt though CEB will be launched as I dont see any high yielding business demand on that route for EK to tap into which MNL has...all be it little!

EK's regional J class product on board their A 332s and B 772As/B 773As are an absolute disgrace. The seat width and recline especially are really disappointing to have experienced many times on flights taken by me to BKK, BOM, KWI and LHR on EK. Qatar Airways and Etihad have far more superior J class cabins on their A 330s compared to EK's.

emirates 777 you are the only person on this forum who can let us all know. I was just in the terminal 3 today, and I asked the reservation desk. no one has a clue about why the webmaster has durban listed in the drop down menu for destinations. when you try to do an advanced booking though, durban is not on the list at all.

when you look on the official emirates oct 08-march 30, 09 winter schedule only SA and BA operate the connections from durban to JNB and so forth. no direct ek dxb-dur flights yet so far to the best of my knowledge.

emirates 777? any news on this? also what about PNQ? TRZ? Jai? ORd?

this is really intruiging news! and now you see it in the drop down menu on www.emirates.com yet not in the advanced booking yet and no news published yet. strange.

you'ld think there would be an announcement of this.

As far as i am aware Durban is available for booking on emirates.com. Flights will start effective 1 October 2009. There is a good chance on one India destination in 2009.

A lot of your comments are misleading stallone (or should i say Behramjee, or Sanath and any other names you are using).

DXB-ACC-ABJ-ACC-DXB is not a big loss maker for Emirates. If it was, why were flights increased to daily in December and why are flights being upgraded to B77W in December 2009. The route is profitable for Emirates.

I don't think you can call EK's product on the 772As and 773s a disgrace. The aircraft have all been recently refurbished. On regional runs flat beds are not necessary on sectors of upto 5hrs length. And nearly all the 773s now sport the Sky Cruiser seats in F, lie-flats in J and new economy seats in Y. And of course all 777s (ex-2 aircraft which should be upgraded by March) have ICE. I would hardly call that a disgrace. The A332s may have a dated product, but its not that bad for short/medium haul flights. These aircraft will begin to be phased out soon anyway so it doesnt make sense to refurbish them.

Any news on upgrade of plane on EK35/36 Newcastle. Many business class passengers are complaining about old plane. Also are EK happy with this route ?? It seems to have cooled recently.

thank you emirates 777. Today I also just saw on gauteng.net news that oct 1, 2009 will be dxb-dur direct flights. for now I have to tolerate dxb-jnb-dxb. it's sad to have to drive 7 hours from durban to JNB but that's life for you.

again, thanks. I do look forward to pnQ or anyother India destination,. and one more usa destination in 2009. I heard rumours that it maybe ord.
