Thanks for your very prompt reply. Mixed news it seems as the leg into BKK is the one I would normally want to sleep on. Having said that on a leg of approx 7 hours, after meal service etc there's not much time to sleep.
773ER,
There's limited information available at this stage. But FYI, the first aircraft, A6-EBQ arrived into DXB on Saturday evening from Seattle. It will enter revenue service tomorrow on the EK015 to LGW (ETA 1230). The aircraft will be doing a lot of the LGW flights -- all on the EK015/16. Here are the dates of operation: 9/11/13/14/15 August. Of course things are always subject to change. Once i get more info will post it.

Emirates777,
I am due to travel in first on EK016 from LGW to DXB on 05/11. Can you clarify if the old style cabin is on-board or whether this will be the upgraded one referred to above?

At the moment the flight is scheduled with the B777-300 with the old config. and cabin. However EK15/16 is a flight where there are frequent aircraft changes. So best to check back a week or two before departure and we will know exactly which type is scheduled.

Hello. I thought i would provide a brief update on the EK fleet and cabin reconfig. status.
A6-EBQ and A6-EBR -- both B777-300ERs are 3-class configured aircraft that are dedicated to the JFK route operating EK203/204. The aircraft feature the overhead crew rest areas, Sky Cruiser F class seats (similar to other B77W and the reconfig. B772s), the new lie flat J class seats, new economy seats and the ICE IFE system. Given the timings of the EK203/204 flights, one of these aircraft is available (between 0830-0000) daily to operate other flights. Allowing for line maintenance on certain days the aircraft is not assigned any specific routes. It is also used as a backup aircraft. When it is put into service I think there is a good chance you are likely to see one of these on the following routes: EK055/056 (DUS), EK001/002 (LHR), EK015/016 (LGW), EK073/074 (CDG), EK045/046 (FRA), EK121/122 (IST), EK923/924 (CAI).
A6-EBS and A6-EBT -- both B777-300ERs are 2-class configured aircraft. Both delivered in the last 10 days to DXB. The aircraft feature the new lie flat J class seats, new economy seats and the ICE IFE system. There is no set route plan for these aircraft but i understand that where possible they will be assigned to operate two services -- EK334/335 (MNL) and EK017/018 (MAN). Outside of these routes they could of course appear on other scheduled B77W (high density) routes.
As for the remaining B77W deliveries for this year. A6-EBU (3-class) B77W is due end of October to DXB, while A6-EBW is due end of November to DXB and both aircraft will feature same config as EBQ and EBR. No idea yet whether they will be assigned to any specific routes but my sense is that they will most likely be dedicated on EK001/EK002 (LHR), EK003/EK004 (LHR) as well as EK205/206 (HAM/JFK). A6-EBV (2-class) is due end of October to DXB. Again no set route yet but i suspect it could be dedicated on the EK19/EK20 to MAN.
The next batch of B77Ws are not due till March 2007. All deliveries from that point onwards will feature overhead crew rest areas, F class will have the suites (similar to A345), J class will have new lie flat seats and economy the new seats.
The A340-300 fleet is being re-fitted with new Y class seats -- similar to the B77Ws. When these aircraft came from Boeing leasing and they were upgraded to EK spec. new seats were installed in F and J but Y class had the original SQ seats but with new EK seat covers. Now these are being changed. Also it is not yet clear whether these aircraft will have ICE. Some of the A343 are upgraded already and i think the process will be complete by early new year.
On the subject of the new economy seats i dont have full details yet but i understand each seat has individual power ports/network ports (eg. USB) for devices.
Finally, I think one of the B777-300 low density aircraft may have already gone into the hangar for its refurb. Not sure if its A6-EMM or another aircraft but if this is true then refurb. process for this fleet seems to have started ahead of plan.
A6-EMK and A6-EML, the 2 B772/B772ERs still with old config are due to be refurbished by Jan 2007.
Disclaimer: All this info subject to change based on operational requirements.
There isn't a "new" Y seat per se, but actually just the ones introduced on the newer B773s/A345s that are being standardized throught most of the fleet, except the bloody A330s

Emirates 777,
Since we booked our trip BHX to BKk flying Emirates biz class I have avidly read all the posts here. Seems BHX>>DXB is the only UK route where theres no chance of lie flats.
I'm also surprised the DXB>>BKK sector doesn't have lie flats in biz as the flights go on to either HK or Oz/NZ and the return flights originate there.
Is it possible that the flights we were given by the travel agent.....EK40/384 and EK387/39 are the few that don't have lie flats?
I'm traveling LGW-DXB-MRU in late Nov06 and the flights are all listed as 3-class 773 (i.e., not the ER versions). The seat maps for my flights all show 3 rows of F and only 5 rows of C (rows 7~11). Anyone know if the pitch in C will be that horrible 48" found on the 2-class 773s? After 2 sleepless flights to/from BKK on 2-class 773s 2 years ago, I vowed to never again subject myself to those seats (seat in front of you reclines right into your lap ... also, legrest doesn't barely go up!) Anyone know if the 3-class 773s have had a row removed in C? (the EK website says there should be rows 6~11 on these planes!)

Thanks.
All 3 row F class 773s have the 46"-48" pitch in C

I have found the GDS seat maps (especially on Amadeus, Apollo and Worldspan) to randomly not show rows of seats on EK planes. For example, once I was shown F class on EK6 (a 773) as just row 3
It is possible that EK has removed a row of J seats on this plane, but it is highly unlikely that they will have reconfigured J without touching F class at all.
I would make a dummy booking at emirates.com for your dates and to check if the plane has a row 6.
The Emirates website says that "ICE will also be available on selected aircraft from Dubai to Hong Kong, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Perth and Singapore during 2006"
Does anyone have any further information on this as I am due to fly DXB-SIN (EK404) on 11 Feb 2007 in F class. How can I find out if my flight will have ICE?
