They simply don't deserve to be in business given the way they treat their customers.
I've flown EL AL plenty over the past few years and have nothing but good things to say about them about all my flights.

They all took of basically on time and landed on or before schedule. The ground staff was polite and the FA's were fine too.

I just came back from the Far East in C and the FA's were falling over themselves to be of service and to make sure everything was OK

It is my airline of chose, even though I ususally fly Y class, and will probably be so in the future

I understand that the security personnel are not employed by EL AL, but by the Israeli Foreign Ministry.

It is very difficult for EL AL to get the security personnel to cooperate. They often act in a high-handed and officious manner. Flying First from London, I have, on a number of occasions, had to call over the EL AL supervisor to get them to deal with me before 20 other passengers (mixed business class and just plain King David members).

That's not what his colleagues said when they came over to make excuses for his continued employment while expressing their opinion on his behavior. They clearly identified themselves as employees of the airline, and never mentioned anything about the Foreign Ministry.

That good huh? Even in the "good old days"(TM), the number of times that I could count even the much vaunted SQ FAs in C "falling over themselves to be of service" was prolly less than on one hand. They were to be sure courteous, attentive, efficient etc., but generally no more (or less) than what you'd come to expect from the S'pore Girl (or Boy) reputation. Guess its all relative. Might have to give LY a try next time, but I don't have excess capacity of trips in the foreseeable future to take non Star Alliance flights.
