Not at all. Whilst I fly a lot TLV-LHR it is in most cases en route to somewhere else, either in Europe or North America. Since mostly the places I am travelling to are not served directly by ELAL, flying through LHR or somewhere else is more or less the same, albeit it does depend where I'm going since London is a bit further so to speak.
I travel once a month to South West France and either use BA via LHR or ELAL via CDG. I also travel frequently to Canada and the US but rarely do business in NY or LA.
As to BMI, they would be less convenient for me in terms of timings and my final destinations, albeit they are certainly offering comepetitive fares in C.

If I understand right from the Hebrew page, that even without status, If i Flew twice with one of these airlines, I can also sign up for free by ELAL plus recieve 100 points, is that right?
Also, I was a silver member by Miles and More but dropped down to regular when I switched to BD, so I am wondering if I can give them my old M&M card number which starts with 9922 which is for silver members and is still valid so maybe I can get status match, or will they see that now I am regular so I can only take part in the above promo?

I simply know the people on the airport and wanted to validate i am first in
line, and they told me i am second, when i asked if the first is TPL they told

As for everyone's comment on the 1000 points, If you are a HON or other
status you probably fly business or first, which means getting to 1000 points
is very easy, end then all PLs and GLs who get it from flying economy
are simply hurt from this...
I dont worry much, I fly business or first most of the time or being upgraded
all the times - But i have few friends which will simply going to suffer!
I have *A on TG. I have AA Plat. We tried to get them to give me Plat on LY since I have been close numerous times. They reject me every time. I really need to stop flying other airlines from Israel but I only fly east.

I dont know why they rejected you, Maybe you should try again via your agent right now...
Everyone, This Status match was always existing in EL-AL up to the level of Gold.. The simply extended it right now to Platinum/Top Platinum.
It also exist vice versa (I can move to Luft and get my status if i wish)

My travel coordinator contacted the LY liason to our company. She provided my TG Gold Status and the trips I've traveled.
Basically I was rejected yesterday again due to the fact that TG and AA are not among the airlines for this special status match promotion and the fact that in the past 12 months they don't see me as being close enough to PL. I'm about 1200 points away at the moment. I have been as close as 350 in the past and even then they rejected my request.
Since I have secured GL for the coming July 09-July 10 perhaps I should just stop flying LY except when I really have no choice at all. The problem is that I really don't want to have to start flying through FRA to DEL/BKK/HKG etc.

Next time e-mail directly to prestige@elal.co.il, I have seen many people with 500 to 800 points missing getting the PL...
Next thing I would love to know is which other programs would also offer status match from EL AL Silver , either car rentals, hotels or airlies. I use them alot buy don't stick to one fixed one.
