TLV King David Lounge Get-togethers

In some other forums, they have one specific thread where people post when they're going to be in a lounge and are willing to bring in a guest.

They use the following format:

AIRPORT / DATE / TIMEFRAME

For us likely no need for AIRPORT unless it is possible to bring guests to lounges abroad.

Should we do this? If so, perhaps we can "Sticky" it?

I don't see any reason why we can't do this but it will require a SuperMod to make it into a sticky. I'll send a PM to one asking him to do it.

Canarsie, our local, friendly, SuperModerator, was good enough to make this a sticky. I will now make our first official request.

I will be in TLV Departures tomorrow (May 8) for a 07:40 flight to MXP. Any King David members who are hanging around at that time are more then welcome to invite me into the club.

To be clear, I was referring to there not being any reason not to make this thread a sticky. If a Lounge member thinks it is not a good idea to invite someone in that is obviously his prerogative.

Truth is I was just thinking purely of how mad the KD lounge gets sometimes especially at peak times like after Pesach or Succoth, when everyone are returning home from their Israel holiday, you often literally cannot find a seat to rest on.
Many of the travelers have KD membership (regardless of their status in the Matmid club) and manage to get away with taking their whole families in with them.
Some of the lounges abroad in particular the lounge at LHR, can get way over crowded as well.

On second thoughts though, there are not that many FT members here belonging to the Matmid club or that travel in out of Israel, so would don’t really make much difference if here and there someone took a fellow FT member into the lounge with them.

I take my comments back, and would be glad to contribute to the calendar, if it does happen.

There is a simple solution to Lounge entry at TLV for Israeli based travellers.
All credit card companies have certain cards which give free access to the Dan Lounges (which BTW, I think is better than KD) and do not cost more than the regular card. You should check with your bank to see if you qualify and change your card
As I also have access to KD I'll check the sticky to see if there are any request on the days of my flights

For those who don't have those credit cards, entry to the Dan Lounge costs 100 shekels. As this gives you internet access, all the soft drinks you can down, and a decent choice of snacks, it is not a bad deal at all.

After landing into TLV is it possible, maybe by going through the "Transit Passengers" area, to access the departures level and hence the lounge?

I'm getting in mid-AM and have meetings in the area. I'd really like to use the showers in the taklin.

Is this do-able?

I don't know if the rules changed with the opening of the new terminal, but I do know that in the old one if you were in the departures area you were not allowed out (except by getting on a plane).

I found this out when there was a wildcat strike several years ago and suddenly my flight was delayed by 12 hours. I wanted to get out of the terminal and go into Tel Aviv and was refused.

If the rules are still the same, if you got into the Lounge you wouldn't be able to get into Tel Aviv afterwards.

You must have a pre-arranged invitation to go into the the depature area without a boarding pass. I'm not sure if ElAl can fix you such an invitation (I believe they won't).

I'll be flying out of TLV to BKK on Saturday night, May 20 at 11PM. I usually get there pretty late so don't go to the lounge but if you PM me we can make some arrangments.
