El al considering eliminating first class
Yup. You read that right. So far only available in Hebrew news:
http://www.ynet.co.il/articles/0,7340,L-4953668,00.html
Basically Elal is gearing up to accept 16 Boeing 787s (1st one arriving Aug 2017) and they are considering eliminating FC and making an economy premium class (Business class seats w/ Economy service) between rows 17-20 and would include 28 seats.

No surprise re First class, and we've been saying it here for ages.
Typical Israeli journalism re Premium Economy (or as they called it, Economy Premium...)

Well looks like they'll be removing F from some of the 777 routes from W17.
First to go will be the EWR flights from end of October, then LHR from 1st of November and HKG from March.

Knowing LY, my guess is that the reason LY isn't selling F on these routes is not that F is being removed from 777 at that time, but that the routes will be operated by 787 instead (without F), at least some days of the week.
This timeline (Oct/Nov 2017) works with the need to free up one 777 to start MIA.
One possibility is that the 777 that normally operates the day 7/2/4 EWR flight and day 1/3 LHR flight will operate 7/2/4 MIA instead.
Let's see when LY starts filing routes with 787 equipment!

Since the F seats are essentially the same as the C seats on the 777 (and 744) - my guess is they'll just keep the F seats and remove the wall between the F and C cabins, or maybe not even that, and just sell the whole think as C.
Also, don't expect them to switch out the seats in C on the 777 to match the 787.
