LY Maintenance on strike - possible disruptions once again...
This is as a result of the negotiations over their new contracts which have come to a dead end.
They are apparently currently working on a 744 which should have been finished today but is now unlikely to be...

315 should have been the plane of 318 (renamed 1318) which seems to have gone mech in LHR. I wouldn't have though that it would be directly related to this strike as I imagine LY outsource their maintenence in outstations.

I tend to agree with your sentiments, however the reason why this hasn't happened yet is three fold. First, the majority shareholder doesn't want to have her shares and investment in the company wiped out. Second, they are hoping that "UP" and the modified "C" and "F" seats on long haul routes will be enough to keep them afloat a while longer. Lastly, I suspect fudging of the financial numbers have occurred. Every experienced corporate accountant I've spoken to have told me that they do not understand, based on the financial reports, how this company is not bankrupt yet.
