Track Flight and Find Tail Registration

How do I track a flight on the LY website? It used to be there and now it's gone. (At least I think)

Also, how do I find the tail registration number for the aircraft of a particular flight?

So there's no way of knowing before I get on the plane whether my 772 will have crappy IFE or a more sophisticated (VOD) crappy IFE?

Is is often possible to know a day beforehand by checking where each aircraft is and calculating the schedule.

Feel free to contact me if you want, I enjoy working these things out.

I have the same problem as you...
I have flown LY 772s tons of times, and I only got ECF once, and ECE twice...

I fly LY323 NEXT Monday, and I hope I will get a "new" 772...
When and where do you fly joshwex?

Working it out, it looks like I can get ECA, ECD, or ECE. Flying LY027 tonight to EWR (meaning I'm flying at 00:40 on Wednesday). See what you can get

Flying tonight to EWR. I thought I had left LY, but I was booked on LY kicking and screaming. At least I'm coming back on US which isn't too bad for the TLV flight.

No shot at ECF, but *slim* shot at ECE. Regardless, I will bring my Advil PM, charged laptop with hard drive, and lots of prayers of making it through the flight! At least I have a middle section aisle seat with no one sitting next to me (yet). We'll see how long that lasts

You will not get ECE as it comes back from CDG, and then flies to HKG. I think it will be ECA. ECD flies to JFK this afternoon.

How do you know that ECE will fly to HKG, why won't it be ECA which arrives at 17:35 from JFK.

If the planes go out in the order they came in (I realise it doesn't have to be that way), then it will be ECE which flies to EWR tonight.

How do you now ECE will be flying to HKG? And how do you know that ECD will be doing JFK?

I know because flights arriving from CDG usually fly later on either to HKG, or to BKK during high season.
JFK will be for sure operated by ECD since ECD arrives from LAX at 2.00 pm: there is no other 777 available for the JFK flight anyway.
This is the way things usually work, but I can be wrong...

Well let's all daven that I get ECE. While we're at it, let's all continue praying that like my friends before, the check-in agent is so ecstatic to here that I'm making Aliyah on my return that she bumps me to C!

LY most certainly does not work on a FIFO system. At JFK, during the winter, the 001 that arrives at 6:00 will just sit there until it turns around at 23:50 as the 008 - while the 007 gets in at 13:30 and usually turns around as the 002 at 19:00. Its probably due to the cost of parking the a/c and taxiing it into and out of the gate. But it is rather odd that an airline the size of LY will just leave a 744 parked every day for 18 hours.

Next Friday, LY27 will be operated by ECF. So, I can be sure that my flight on Monday will not be operated by ECF.

@Joshwex: send us a message at the airport when you are in front of the plane to tell us the reg
