Major changes to Matmid program - starting Sep 2023

Elal is overhauling its frequent flyer program to be more in line with industry practices. Key changes include:
  • Accrual by revenue rather than distance - number of points per USD by member status:
    • non elite - 6
    • silver - 8
    • gold - 9
    • platinum - 11
    • top plat - 12
  • Dynamic pricing replacing award charts
  • Status points ("diamonds") determined by flight revenue (1 diamond per USD for members, 1.2 diamonds per USD for FlyCard Premium holders, 1.15 for FlyCard Business holders).
  • New elite requirements:
    • silver - 3000 diamonds or 2000 diamonds + 6 segments
    • gold - 6000 diamonds or 3500 diamonds + 10 segments
    • platinum - 12000 diamonds or 7000 diamonds + 20 segments
    • top plat - 28000 diamonds or 25000 diamonds + 40 segments
  • Point validity - 18 months after most flight activities or spent ILS 5K monthly spend on credit card
  • Upgrades - all booking classes will be upgradeable (with dynamic pricing)

More information is available on the elal web site.

First lounge in T3 no longer called First. I was in there this morning (admitted as a Platinum) under new rules.

That's what an LY executive told me when we had a video chat discussing the program changes for the post above.

I wonder if this finally gives a good reason to get the Fly Card.
