Princess1, you don't have to go all the way to London, there is a Nando's in Chinatown in Washington DC! (and soon to be a Wagamama, another London favorite)
I crave
Crispy Pad Thai from Spice in Harvard Square, Cambridge, MA
HOT lobster rolls (none of this mayonnaise stuff)
Doughnuts from Emily's Bakery formerly of Westbrook, CT (went out of business when I was a child but I can still remember the amazing fresh doughnuts- none of the chain "Donut" places come close)
here's a good one - several years ago, I came down with a nasty cold, lasted freaking forever, and I would go to Chinatown to get the best seafood soup at this Chinese place.
Time passes, and memories blur, and I'd forgotten about this place, until, for some strange reason, I had a hankering for that soup again - started daydreaming about it (keeping it topical, lol).
So I recently went looking for the place, and I'd forgotten which stop and where exactly (Chinatown in NY is kind of big, and covers a large area of downtown), but I found it!!! It's the Canal Street stop on the subway:
New Bo Ky Restaurant, Inc.
(Special Seafood Noodle Soup (that's what I always got, delish), Pho, Hu Tieu, Nam Vang, Trieu Chau)
78-80 Bayard Street
New York, NY 10013
(212) 406-2292
Enjoy!

Probably my most favorite meal is the Chicken Parm from Carrabba's. I love the bread and dipping oil you get at the beginning of a meal.
There was also a Japanese steakhouse right near the border of Durham and Chapel Hill, NC. The steak was always cooked good and they had a sushi that was fried just long enough to give it a crispy coating. There is also a restaurant called Top of the Hill on the UNC campus along with another one that was called The Loop (I think) a little outside of campus.
Finally, there is a little hole in the wall Mexican restaurant in downtown San Antonio named Lula's. One of our project managers actually found it when he was down here for a meeting. They are only open for breakfast and lunch, but have the best meals. They always give a huge glass of sweet tea and the tortillas are always made fresh. I have to get there before I leave next Friday.
There's a small Mexican restaurant in PHL I think about a lot, wishing I could be there for dinner, called Zocolo. The food is so fresh and just plain good. I get there about once a month.
Thank you! I have been looking for a good mexican restaurant in philly!

I've never had Nando's in the US but the difference between Nando's UK v Australia is light years in terms of taste and quality. Over here the Nando's chicken is dry and the restaurants tend to be a bit grubby. In the UK Nanado's is great.
I've dreamt-- and I mean that literally-- of the hot lobster rolls at Neptune Oyster in Boston. Heaven on a bun. It's the reason I go back to Boston.
And, the shrimp shumai at Soba-Ya in NYC. Oh. My. God. It is the appetizer of the gods. It is on a higher plane than other mere shumai. I once actually ordered a second order for dessert! Best thing that's ever been in my mouth!

Best shumai in a soba place on 10th street? Are you sure you haven't had better at any of the dim sum places in LAX/SFO/YYZ/YVR?
Food that has entered my dream,
- Soup dumpling from Ding Tai Feng in Taipei
- White truffle Risotto at L'Obe in Hotel de Crillon, Paris
- The chicken dish at House of Nanking, San Fransisco
- Quail with potatos and pistachios, Annisa, NYC
- Green tea mille crepe at Ushiwakamaru, NYC
