With seaweed? And I thought with chocolate was odd. I may have to try that...
They are really good and very salty with the slightest hint of sweet because of the flavored seaweed. My brother has to send them from the Japanese market in LA because they are hard to find in Eugene.

Japanese snacks tend to seem odd to Western tastes...
They do sweet-salty and fishy things that most Americans do not get.
I love a Japanese snack mix from my local Asian market: rice crackers, salted peanuts, and honey & sesame coated dried anchovies
As well, I remember during some holiday travel a few years back watching some Japanese exchange students freaking out some local college boys at DFW. They offered to let them try some dried baby anchovies they were snacking on while waiting for their plane. After the TX boys reactions died down, I offered to share the jerky I was chewing on... dried squid! The exchange students LOVED it....among the locals I had no takers.

+1
I lived for a while overseas and the area where I was sold packs of noodles that were not meant to be immersed in hot water but to be eaten raw with some salt seasoning. Lots of cals but an addictive snack nontheless

Hmm, I guess I'll have to try that when I want something salty.

I do the sweet-salty thing with the Hershey's kisses and potato chips.

They make these things called stroopwafeln in the Netherlands which are delicious but definitely an acquired taste.
Really? I would they are easily palatable to the average American palate. One can find those things at various Trader Joes and Costcos. I had a couple for breakfast today with my coffee (the best accompaniment).
