I always go to McDonalds when in Europe , especially later in the evenings when most of the "Imbiss" places are closed,
Also at Singapore airport (escape from BKK-2008) the Burger king had some good turkey burgers with sauce,
Now is the time to cover your ears !
I almost always eat American food when I am traveling to "exotic" places ,
I figure if I only have a few days on a trip I do not want to be hugging the toilet half the time !
I have gone places (Mexico city, Guatemala etc ) and eaten bread and cookies , and a Pepsi for a few meals !
I am amazed people eat street food in Asia , Mexico and Central America ,

maybe they have a iron gut , but I do not !

I not only eat it, I seek it out. I have eaten many meals at 4 star expensive restaurants in both Thailand and Mexico(not by choice), and I'll take the 'hole in the wall' or sidewalk vendor joints any day. Unless you have some kind of medical condition, the way you achieve an 'iron gut' is by subjecting yourself to new and different bacteria. If worst comes to worst, and it only has twice for me in 30 years, Cipro or Flagyl will fix it.
I have to confess that I have eaten McDonalds in France...TWICE. The first time I was severely hung over and it was the only place open where I could get my hangover coke. The second time my boyfriend and I needed WIFI access. Very sad, I know. Please don't ban me from Flyertalk!
As Mrs. Italy has said in every country we have visited, I did not come to Austria to eat fish and chips, or Germany to eat Italian. Why go to a foreign country if you are not going to try the real thing?

Have eaten from the corner noodle cart in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur and picked up newspaper cones of whatever in Seoul. Eaten fish caught downstream of water buffalo, clothes being washed and kids playing in the water in Viet Nam. All with out any problem yet here in the US I wish I could say that I am batting 100% on no issues

This thread just reminded me of a blond bimbo in the 'MTV Real World: Hawaii' show many years ago...they won a 2 week trip to india and she didn't pack any clothes on her suitcase just to place inside bottled water, pringles and 6-packs of snickers, because she wasn't going to drink even indian water. She ended up so sick for eating that food during a week that they had to fly her back to the US...in that moment i though 'god she's stupid!...
For me the trick is eat where the locals always eat. If they haven't died out of that food, why would I?

My McD's hangover cure is pretty specific too. Though it requires me to be out of bed before 10:30. Coffee, Hash Browns and a Bacon Egg and Cheese Bagel. The grease from those McD hash browns seems to be especially soothing. Now that I think on it though I don't think I've done this for any hangover that I actually woke up with. More like the hangovers I had at 7 AM when I still hadn't gone home.
However, I've never done the McD's thing abroad with the exception of one Apple Pie in Hong Kong because I had heard that they still fried them there.
Also, Starbucks in Edinburgh (George St) and Hong Kong (Pacific Place). But this had more of everything to do with the fact that it was on my way to work each morning and this was the quickest stop between my hotel and office. I'm not really a fan of the Seattle Roast.
