I have comparative pricing for the JW whisky range from KUL, so will do the USD conversions tonight and add the prices.

SIN still seems the place to buy... Lots of people did on the night.

Is anyone buying the 200ml bottles of whisk(e)y?

I'm tempted to just max out our allowance with these alone... 4.4L of JW Black (for two of us) for AUD$132! This should last a few years unless it comes out for parties.

Is the 200ml bottle sold at rock bottom prices (far below the 1L price, by volume) elsewhere? (5x 0.2L=AUD$30 vs. 1L @AUD$50)

But then you have to drink JW Black (a big step down from the Green though a different style). It is an excellent price and I haven't seen small size bottles sold cheaply anywhere in the world except when a distributor is clearing inventory (and discontinuing a size or label style). The supply might dry up soon at this price.

FYI for Syd arrivals - register at www.firstdutyfree.com.au (no connection to me other than my experiment on arrival into SYD tomorrow).

Registering will gain you a $10 off $50+ purchase voucher, so one or two of you may get almost 400ml of drink free, if the 200ml miniatures are available.

Unfortunately I don't have a printer here in the SIN SKL, so cannot print the vouchers.
Will see if a netbook screen, waved around with a hopeful face, suffices...

Hi,
Just as an update, I'm trying to establish an interest in the Duty free Best Finds list via my brand new blog [here's post #1!].

Sorry it's not working at this minute, but I'm hoping to get some new people posting where they have seen either new products or drinks at new airports not already listed.

It's worth reminding you that there is a great deal on 200ml miniatures at SYD and each person can buy 2.25L of duty free spirits, aka 11 bottles!

I'll update you on any new feedback, hopefully very soon.
Meanwhile, please mention any other drinks you've seen on special at your local duty free - especially if it was an irresistable buy.

By the looks of it the Johnnie Walker Blue has gone up substantially onboard UA its now 155USD, I am thinking I am cheaper to buy this in Aus duty free with the currency now. Can anyone confirm this now is the onboard price?

Thumbs up Johnnie Walker Blue at TPE

I also shop JWB as my de-facto price indicator. Transited TPE recently and they were having a 35% off sale:

750ml = $110usd
1Liter = $150usd

I went for the 1L because of the GWP, which was a really nice blue leather gym bag with Johnnie Walker Blue in stencle on the front. Name brand US cigarettes were $13usd on my Eva Air flights, and slightly cheaper in the DFS.

Can I move there...

That's an excellent deal, SunLover!
I've never ever seen a 35% off sale on JW Blue, duty free in Asia.
I didn't check in ICN in December, but would guess that it would be priced even higher there due to high demand from Korean flyers.

Was the price in USD (and did you convert the local price against www.xe.com to see if it was the true USD conversion)?

I'll add your to the JW Blue List. I'd love to find some deals on my next trip via Asia, at better rates than offered by SQ and SIN airport.

The price in the DFS was displayed in Taiwan dollars, something like 5,100twd for the 1L and 3,800twd for the 750ml if I remembered correctly thru my champagne fog... A helpful shop employee armed with a calculator estimated the cost at around $150usd. I asked him to check it again, just to be sure, because it seemed real reasonable to me...

I used a credit card for the purchase, and the charge on my statement was exactly $150usd. I am sure my dad will enjoy it.

San Juan(SJU):

Dom Perignon $99USD
Veuve Cliquot $30USD

And this one made me laugh at JFK T8(AA's terminal):

Dom Perignon $215USD
I've never seen it that expensive even in a high-end, high street liquor store. What a joke!

Wow... less than $100 for Dom is a great deal. What vintage...?
