Far away from any airport but the duty free shop crossing from Arizona (at Organ Pipes National Park) into Mexico has $10 bottles of 151 proof Bacardi. These sell for $18 at the Canadian border (going either way).

Thanks, YVR Cockroach.
I've added another section at the end of the OP for non-airport 'best finds', with a link to your find.

Latest buys...

Atlanta Duty Free:
  • Canadian Club 12 yr old 1 ltr $21
  • Woodford Reserve 1 ltr $39
Dubai Duty Free
  • Havana Club 3 yr old 1 ltr $12.25
  • Captain Morgan 1 ltr $12.25
  • Tanqueray 1 ltr $17.70
United Arab Emirates allowances: 4 litres (non-Muslims only)

The main advantage of Dubai and Abu Dhabi duty free stores are:
  • They sell to incoming and outgoing passengers
  • They sell many lines not available through the official concessions; otherwise expect a 10-15 percent discount on comparable items

i'm surprised i haven't seen anybody mentioning MEX duty free. $8USD bottles of bacardi products, lots of really great high-end tequila, too. my favorite was bottles of centenario reposado for $15USD ($50+ in the states).

ORD duty free has smirnoff black label (small kettle-made batches in the UK) for around $20USD, another great product i wish i could get more.

Although I haven't been purchasing hard liquor at SIN, I think that generally prices have risen tremendously..

I was just in/out of SIN, and bought *nothing* except beer/wine.

Normally, I would buy chocolate/other gifts, and didn't have the time to check this thread for pricing.

The beer was obviously overpriced (due to SIN pricing) and the wine was higher than one would pay in the US for the same bottles of wine. However, I cannot be sure, as none were recognizable.

Last week I paid 11.50€ for 1liter of Smirnoff Red Label in CGN (should be valid for all German Duty Free Shops), they allways have one Vodka brand (usually Smirnoff Red, Absolut, Finlandia) on offer in this price region. Not a killer bargain in my eyes, but still cheaper than the price mentioned already ($21).

Recent Detroit Duty Free Prices vs MI Minimum

OK, BizBB here ya go.

These are some recent duty free purchases I made at the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel Duty Free Shop Inc.

All prices are in USD/CAD (as they currently treat the currency the same) and are for 1L bottles. The first price listed is the price paid duty free, the second number after the // is the current Michigan minimum shelf price. The number after the = is my savings.

Some deals are better than others, but not a bad savings overall.

Stoli Vodka - 12.00 // 26.70 = 4.70
Disaronno Amaretto - 23.95 // 30.79 = 6.84
Crown Royal - 23.50 // 31.41 = 7.91
Captain Morgan Spiced Rum - 15.99 // 18.97 = 2.98
Jim Beam - 13.99 // 18.50 = 4.51
Beefeater Gin - 15.99 // 24.95 = 8.96
Jack Daniels - 22.00 // 27.94 = 5.94

Since I bought two Stoli and two Jack, I saved a total of: $52.54

Where are all the rums?

Anybody have any recommendations for Duty Free shops that have something other than the horrible Bacardi, Captain Morgan, fare? (not a big fan of Havana Club either).

Bought Bacardi for 11.50€/liter in DUS last week, not a big rum fan, but okay with a Cuba libre, plus if you're in Sweden you'll drink anything (exept those 3.5% beers).
