Good one. Does every park have a retired player pushing BBQ? My last three ballpark visits I saw Sanguillen in Pittsburgh, Bull in PHL, and I always get the ribs from Boog's BBQ before games at Camden Yards (Boog Powell, Baltimore). My guess is that the new DC park will have Frank Howard's BBQ.
Updating this -- no Hondo's BBQ, but half-smokes from Ben's Chili Bowl and burgers from Five Guys.

When I studied abroad in Prague, I was sick of their "cuisine" so a few of us went over to Jagr's Sports Bar. Just bar food but it was certainly a nice change of pace. Needless to say we went back a few more times.
I, too, have been to Michael Jordans in Grand Central. It was good but I wouldnt put it up there with Lugers, Wolfgangs, etc. Certainly a nice option though. Its MJ, you think he would open up a crummy restaurant in the greatest city in the world?

The Padres have Cy Young winner Randy Jones doing BBQ at Petco. He did it also at Qualcomm before Petco was built but they gave him more room and he had a bigger menu and I think better food at Qualcomm. He also sells his sauce online. Has good, big hotdogs but I would call the rest of it mediocre.

People may complain it's stadium food (since it is located at a stadium) but Boog Powell's Pit Beef Ball Park BBQ located at Camden Yds in Baltimore, MD has to be one of the best food I've ever had with celebrity support.

If we are talking about stadium food, you cant even touch the new Citi Field in Queens, NY. With Blue Smoke, Shake Shack, and some fish place its hard to beat. And I am a die-hard Yankees fan too.

Well a bit of clarification on my post: I don't think Boog's is the best stadium food ever, because I haven't been to very many stadiums to make such a claim. But so many sports bars and steakhouses endorsed by celebrities are a pile of mediocrity it's not funny.
I am not a die-hard Orioles fan, by the way.

Albert's place is OK, but not great.
Jim Edmonds' F15Teen or whatever is a pretty good steakhouse, though the "scene" at night gets pretty old.
Eddie George has a sportsbar/restaurant in Colombus. Food is fine, service is quick and prices are reasonable. Most importantly, it is directly across the street from the OSU campus which means if you are going to a game, you can drink right up to game time.

Wow, I had thought that Michael Jordan's had closed about ten years ago. I had NO IDEA that it was still open. I might actually venture over to give that a shot. It was HUGE in the 90's. I really thought it had closed around '99. Didn't the owners make some claim that he was not visiting the restaurant and Jordan counter sued saying they were using his name beyond the scope of the contract?

You basically have the story correct except that you are thinking of the restaurant in Chicago. I knew the owners of the restaurant: I do not know what their contract allowed, but they were correct in that MJ did nothing to promote the place. Sports bars in Chicago are a dime a dozen and this one just did not make it. My opinion is they were basically correct but no judge in Chicago at the time was going to rule against MJ.
BTW, there were 2 bars/restaurants. One on Lincoln Park West and one on LaSalle: we are talking of the one one Lincoln Park West.

Ahhh...sorry. Ok. Obviously as you may have surmised, I am relatively new to my new home of Chicago. I am really trying to learn the local lore though. My understanding is that MJ started a more upscale 160Blue. He also has reserved the right to future 'named' clubs and restaurants in Chicago.
Well, I have to get out a do more exploring. I must say though, so far I am entirely unimpressed with 'Old Style'. I don't care what sort of status it has as Chicago's favorite beer

I kind of forgot about '160' - its a different generation of MJ Restaurants. I read your post and a few days ago found a Certificate of theirs on restaurant.com. I happened to be on the sight during their 80% off promo, so I got a very good deal and the next time I am going to the United Center will use it.
BTW, you will have fun with Chicago lore - especially if you get into politics.
As far as local beers go, I am not a beer drinker myself, but the college students in the neighborhood seem to drink a ton of '312' - and who knows mors about beer than college kids?
