Soft Shelled Crabs

Anybody know when the season ends for soft shell crabs? My local seafood counter gets great ones in, but has no idea when the season ends.

Is this shop in Chicago? Whereabouts?

My not very precise sense is that the season is something like May to August or September. Maybe depending on weather conditions? I can't remember getting fresh ones in October.

It's my local Whole Foods store (Rand Road Location in either Palatine or Arl Hts.) He has become a very honest guy telling me what is fresh and what is "not so fresh". Have yet to be disappointed w/anything he has recommended. He also will bring in Conchs just for me if I request them.

Produce guys will also special order.
