Yelp's Top 100 in the USA
http://officialblog.yelp.com/2016/02...-for-2016.html
Odd list. I've been to 1, 2, 10, 24 and 57. I've been meaning to get to 77 for the past couple of years, but being about 4 miles from home, somehow I've never made it (as many times as I've passed right by)!

+1 this! I work less than 2 miles from #47 - it's a crap shack and not in the good way like "I found amazing street food in Thailand off the beaten path."
This is a fun list for a new city or looking for something new near home.

Something that might be more useful for that is if Yelp released top 10-20 for 2016 lists for every major metro area. It'd reduce/eliminate the contributor distribution bias that a single top 100 list would have, anyway.

Feeding the scepticism about Best lists. I figure one can get a
good meal at most of these places (I doubt it about a sandwich
shop that features the Avocado BLT), but one can add a thousand
other equals.

What an odd list. I've been to #9 (Franklin's BBQ in Austin) which makes sense but I've also been to #16 (Los Agaves in Santa Barbara) which was pretty forgettable Mexican.

The list is based on yelp reviews with corresponding demographics.
I've been to probably a dozen (incl 1, 15, 16, 17) - they are all good and inexpensive places. This is not michelin etc formal dining but rather the kind of food i can afford to grab pretty much every day. (to address CMK10 comment - los agaves has some very good and some rather generic dishes just like most of them)
In a way i dont really want to see too much publicity - portos has lines out the door every weekend as is...
