No Champagne? Don't like wine with your Warm Nuts? Lets make a Cocktail!!

Hi All!

Some like beer, some like champagne, some like wine... Well many of us enjoy a mixed drink or cocktail. With the limited offerings on board an aircraft, enjoying a nice mixed "libation" can be challenging! With the good graces of fellow FTer 24left (giving credit for the idea which was not mine!) I've decided to make this thread to try and solve the problem!

The challenge (should you choose to accept) is to share drink recipes you've created using ONLY the ingredients that are available on board!

My contribution is:

"The Delta"--Which I "created" on board a Delta flight a couple of years ago.

2 parts Jack Daniels (or Canadian whiskey if you prefer)
3 parts Cranberry Juice.

Lets hear 'em!

Not much of a contribution, but I think a lot of people overlook the mimosa. I had one last Sunday and it's actually pretty good.

Except when they don't load the sparkling wine...I was very sad on a recent flght when this happened.

I usually go for a G&T or Jack & Ginger, although one time in coach I got ambitious and mixed one part gin, one part sprite, one part OJ, and lime. It turned out pretty well.

Haven't created it, but one that is often overlooked and easily made onboard:

The Madras:
vodka
cranberry juice
orange juice

I like the simplicity, but doesn't a martini have vermouth?

My contribution. The fojito: rum, sprite, and lemon peel.

Not necessarily. A martini may or may nothave vermouth. The bigger issue is what do you for a shaker to chill the vodka? A warm martini - now that is gross.... better to have a vodka (or gin) rocks. Also I don't think many of us (or the flight attendants) carry a reamer so the twist part is kinda difficult too although a martini is technically not impossible.

Martinis can also be poured onto ice and stirred. The trend these days is towards reducing vermouth, so I think a martini can definitely be made on the plane, but then is it just chilled gin?

Ha! Fantastic title for the thread.

Much as I like the "starter" - chilled champagne and warm nuts, the problem starts when the champagne gets warm and the nuts get cold. Yes, FWP.

Vodka, orange juice, tonic
It's fun and fresh and taste like orangina

Dessert can be more fun if one "splashes" the sundae with Baileys....or....

I'm so disappointed in FT right now, come on, I know you guys can do much better than the simple, tame drinks (although kudos to 24left for involving the sundae -- I prefer to use amaretto on the sundaes myself).

I've used the fudge topping from the sundaes, along with Baileys and hot water to make Irish hot chocolate, fudge & vodka to make chocolate martinis, etc.

You could probably do something interesting with the butterscotch as well, although I haven't tried that yet.

Or you know, tried and true coffee with Bailey's. Or some sundae with coffee with Bailey's. I guess I'm gonna go down this list the next time I fly.
