In a similar vein: the Manhole in Reno & Sukker's Likkers in SF. Many others are probably too graphic for FT.

I'm landlord to a famous Canadian restaurant "Notables" operated by Michael Noble, a world renowned chef.

Get it? "No Tables".. Reservations are 3 to 4 weeks in advance for weekends.

When waiting for a table we often give the host/hostess the name 'Donner' and tell them "we're very hungry".. I just love when they announced "the Donner party. Looking for the Donner party". Our private joke, nobody ever gets it.

Now that one is good. Mind if I steal it occasionally?

Favorite place in NYC's Chinatown is "Big Wong King" -- food (especially the roast pork) is excellent and dinner for two can be well under $20, but that name...

I went to the "McDowell's" in Queens a few months ago. The Wendy's that it became closed in June, and it's now boarded up.
