Mustafa's Gemuse Kebab in Berlin worked when I was there.

A good, cheap, poutine in Montreal also works. Gotta get the cheap stuff, though.

A serious second place contender -- any of a number of good establishments that serve a good Philly Cheesesteak. Tony Luke's. Jim's. DiNic's. Chick's.

Preferably a bacon mushroom cheesesteak.

But the best late night drunk food? No contest.

HOT TRUCK.

Cornell University, Ithaca NY.

PMP -- Poor Man's Pizza.
1/2 Sui (suicide)
MBC - Meatballs with cheese
Full Sui
Etc., etc.

There just is nothing like it.

I am practically crying as I sit here and think about how damn good these pizza subs are -- mollified only by the knowledge that I will be going to Cornell Reunion in about a month and a half, and that I will be having HOT TRUCK while I am there.

Run for many years by Bob Petrillose, a wonderful man.

Now, which sub(s) to order?

I just discovered the Francesinha in Porto:

A sandwich with steak, chorizo or linguica patties, and a slice of ham, then grilled like a Panini, then wrapped in cheese and put in a broiler so the cheese melts, then topped with a fried egg and spicy gravy. (Plus extra peri-peri sauce on top.)

There are many variations of course; the one I had doesn't look as good as the picture. Why didn't I invent this??

Sorry Sir, but I would respectfully disagree and recommend to head about 30 meters further to Curry 36.

http://www.curry36.de/

For veggie fare there are outstanding Arab, Persian and Turkish restaurants in that area.

In NYC one of the best all-time late-night drunk food places is Halal Guys (53rd & 6th) chicken and rice with red (REALLY SPICY) sauce and a dash of white sauce. Don't know what they do to the chicken, but it's so good. Maybe they add a dash of crack to the marinade.

Around 3am there is a line all the way down the avenue (~.25 mile).

In Atlanta, I have a soft spot for the 24 hour Checkers in Midtown. The fries are delicious.

Smoked skewered lamb, pork or chicken, tomato, caramelised green peppers, onion, tzatziki sauce and french fries - all wrapped in crispy pita bread.

Also available with giros when youre not into smokey bbq flavour: http://upload.xandrios.net/DSC_0436.JPG

I'm going to nominate something that I'd never eat while sober...

Tacos from Jack-in-the-Box.

I went to Curry 36 for lunch a week ago. It was great. Would definitely work as late night munchies for me

In Chicago, you gotta get a polish sausage from Maxwell's and sit on the curb while you eat.

Cool

Really does depend on the city, the time of night, delivery or take out, alone or not, hotel or home.

Now I am in a rural town and there are no comfort foods available after drinking except Pizza Hut!
